Staff actually, cleaners, a cook, gardeners, warriors"
She just nodded but as the elevator opened her heart started to thump in her chest again.
"I'm right here and no one will touch you. Remember I kill people"
"Is it weird that, that is comforting"
She looks at me with a guilty look on her face. I shrug
"It's comforting that you won't leave me because of it"
She just nods, a smile playing on her lips. I carried her into the kitchen. Everyone waved at her, she didn't say anything, she just waved back nervously. Gran was still here and she gave her a warm smile as Evelyn came straight over with 2 plates
"Luna it's nice to meet you, if you need anything else just shout"
She looked up at me confused
"You dickhead, do you have a girlfriend called Luna?"
I snorted and laughed with everyone else, I tried to answer but I was laughing too hard. She threw me a dirty look and I settled myself.
"No, I don't have a girlfriend. I've never had a girlfriend actually and I'm an alpha and you're my mate so that makes you my Luna. It's what people call you as a sign of respect"
"Oh so hang on, you're a virgin?"
Holy hell did it just get hot in here? Does she seriously need to ask that of all things I shake my head and throw a face at mum and aspen who were snorting away laughing at me.
"Seriously that's what you got from my answer?"
"Yes honestly it is all I got from the answer. Honestly I don't even remember what we were talking about actually"
"I really like her. Don't f**k it up brother"
She snorted and started to chuckle and it was the best damn sound i've ever heard. She can embarrass me all she wants if that's her reaction.
"But yes he's a virgin, usually or in our case anyway we normally wait until we meet our mate to do the dirty. Are you"
I growl at my sisters stupid quiestion and she face palms
"I'm sorry that was stupid"
"It's really all in how you look at it really, is a virginity a gift to be given or a thing to be taken without permission"
My eyes widen and so does everyone else's. Aspen swallows the lump in her throat scratching the back of her head nervously
"Personally I think it's a gift to be given"
"You think much like myself then. So in that case yes I am a virgin"
Her voice never weavers as she talks and pride swells in my heart and I kiss her head again and freeze again.
"Oh please pull your tail from between your legs and grow a pair im not going to run because you kissed my forehead"
My jaw goes slack as everyone but me and her erupts in laughter.
"If anyone else talked to me like that.."
"What? you'd bark and bite?"
She snorts and Laughs, I don't even know what to say or where to look but my family are having a great time laughing their heads off
"Well yes actually, I probably would"
That statement makes her laugh harder. And I shake my head and enjoy the noise. She takes a drink of the coffee in her cup and moans and the noise almost makes me hard and my face must have said so because dad choked on his food.
I throw him a look as all the women seem confused. I thank the heavens she didn't notice so instead I thought of a fat naked bald man with no teeth and hope it's enough to put the fear in mini me so he won't show himself again for at least a week.
"What is your name? Or do I have to call you alpha?"
"Arden. What about you?"
"Fay"
She answers then pushes the food around her plate.
"What's wrong, do you not like it?"
Her eyes widen and she shakes her head and her cheeks flare a little.
"No im just not use to so much"
I growl and she jumps in surprise. But I closed my eyes and stopped myself before I scared her. Her heart pounds in her chest.
"Sorry"
I whisper to her then look at her face.
"Just remember to eat other people, not me and we are all good"
I smile and roll my eyes
"As if I'd eat you, your way to skinny"
Her jaw goes slack then she taps me on the nose with her tiny hand
"Bad doggy"
Aspen spits coffee out of her nose as she laughs. I tried to playfully bite her hand and she giggles at my attempts
"Don't, you'll get dog drool all over my new giant sized T-shirt"
I let my head fall back and laugh then I tickle her and she screams
"Ahh stop it your giant hands will crush my tiny normal sized body"
"Stop giving me lip and I will"
"Mercy mercy mercy"
I stop tickling her and pull her back into a sitting position on my knee and I rest my head on her shoulder. She smiles but jumps out of her skin when the door opens with a bang. Her heart starts to beat frantically and her breathing gets harder
"Sssh it's ok it's just my douchebag brothers"
Her breathing starts to calm down slightly but her heart is still beating way too fast.
"Do you want to leave?"
She looks at me and pulls my face down to hers
"Do you have any cigarettes?"
She whispers so low I find it hard to hear. I nod and lift her into my arms and leave the packhouse and bring her to my car. I set her down but realise she's in bare feet and set her on the bonnet of the car and go in search of my smokes.
"Why do you keep them in the car?"
She asks me as I find the packet and I groan when I realise it's empty.
"Because I might be an alpha but my mum will still kick my ass, here hop down I am out I need to go to the shop"
I lift her down and open the passenger side of the car and place her in. I get in the other side and look at her expectantly. She looks confused
