10.Yet another dream from which he awoke in vain. He plummeted into it again and again. The water comes, washing everything away. Wrenching her from his arms and dragging her off. He glimpses her as she is whisked along, but he is knocked from his feet and there’s nothing he can do. He wants to rush after her, but he is pulled back. He is saved... or quite the contrary. He flailed in panic, then felt something cool on his forehead. He fell asleep again and the waves returned, at a monstrous height, and then a shrill sound in the night. And it didn’t stop. He regained consciousness slowly; he felt his whole body throbbing with fever.
