12.Anne didn’t understand anything. It was already noon in Bangkok, but only dawn in Europe. Yet she couldn’t reach her husband, even though she had tried calling his home phone and his cell, too. Anne had reached a decision during the night. She had sat beside sleeping Tesumi in the deep, hospital armchair and thought through her past for the first time. She let the tears run down her face when she recalled the horrible day the three of them – Anne, her husband, and Cecilia – had remained in Phuket, more than a year ago.
