7.The water. The wave grows higher and higher. He hears the roar, sees it approaching. It’s still in the distance, but he knows it will arrive very soon, washing everything away, destroying everything that ever mattered. The water… “No!!! Stop!” he shouted, and succumbed to a stifled fit of sobs. He awoke to the sound of his own scream and to Jenny smoothing his forehead in alarm. He realized he was in a hotel by the River Kwai and the sun had risen. He could actually hear the rush of the river, but it was a calm, innocent sound. He wiped his eyes. It was not a dream: he really had been crying, but this was no surprise. He sat up in bed.
