“Good Morning Gold.” greeted Zainab in a loud voice to her best friend, Gold. The other lady returns the greeting and they both hug each other while being watched by everyone in the lecture hall.
Suddenly, a lady made a hissing sound. "Wow! What a snake" said Zainab with a laugh.
"And who are you referring to a snake?" the lady asked Zainab. "Are you asking me that dumb question, baby_girl?" retorted Zainab
"Wow! That was brutal!" A guy shouted and the entire class burst into laugher.
There are different groups of people in the lecture hall; One of them is the INF which stands for the Informant. They are two in number and are in charge of the school’s blog and reporting on the latest news within the school. The two members of the INF are known as Ellen and Evelyn. Everyone tries to ignore them or at least keep their distance from them. Another group in the class is known as Jesters; their job is to make fun of everyone in the class including the lecturers. There are two of them; Steve and Justin. Lastly, we have the Queens. They are three in number and are known as Sunny, Scarlett, and Stella. Their main job is to attract the cute boys in class; to gain attention from their male lecturers; to apply make-up during lectures, and lastly to attend clubs all the time. The Queens have a mutual hatred of Gold and Zainab.
“Ladies, please don't fight. It's too early…” said Ellen.
“Can you please close the door to your mouth??” Sunny said bluntly to one of the INF, Ellen.
“Well, you don't have to shout at her. She was just trying to maintain the peace.” Evelyn supported her friend.
“And when have you ever provided peace?” retorted Scarlett, a member of the Queens.
“How about you look that up online?” remarked Evelyn with a sly smile.
The rest of the class laughed at that. "That was the best thing I’ve heard all morning," Justin said with a laugh.
Scarlett looked at Justin with a fake smile. “Justin, I am warning you. How about you shut up.”
“You don't need to fight him, talk to your gender baby,” said Steve and he and Justin exchanged high-fives. Scarlett gave both of them a scalding look and looked around the class only to fix her eyes on INF frantically typing on their phones. She walked up to their seats, standing at the front of their table waiting for them to raise their heads
“I am not asking you not to publish anything, but if you want to live peacefully, refrain from posting anything about me on the school page. I won't say more than that.” She warned them and turned around to go back to her seat, only for her to trip, but was caught just in time by a guy who was just entering the hall. It just so happened that the guy was Prince, Gold’s boyfriend. Prince was, well, a literal prince and heir to the throne; he was also Allen’s best friend, and they had known each other for years.
“Pretending to fall just so my boyfriend can catch you; Really Scarlett?” Gold fumed as she rushed to stand at Prince’s side. “And why are you staring at her so closely, Prince?”
Prince was a carefree guy so he just smiled good-heartedly and said, “Relax, Gold. I was just trying to help her." He then gave his girlfriend a quick kiss on the lips.
“Get a room.” This came from Stella.
“Rest, Stella. Don’t be mad just because you don’t have anyone to do that with.” The whole class burst into laughter from Zainab’s words.
"It’s not funny," said Sunny said to the class angrily and walked out of the lecture hall with Stella and Scarlett.
Prince walked up to where Allen sat. He had been in the lecture room quietly watching. Prince gave him a handshake. "They were at it again," Prince asked with a smile before sitting next to Allen, who nodded with a little smile on his face. Prince and Allen formed part of a trio, of which the last person was Khalid, Zainab’s boyfriend. They had been friends from a young age along with Zainab and Gold.
The five of them were well known in the school as the children of the richest and most influential people in the country: Zainab was from wealthy parents who made a business of buying, building, and selling companies, for clients in and out of the country. Gold's father was the chief of Army Staff, and her mum, the owner of the biggest boutique brand in the country. Prince came from one of the biggest royal families in the country, Khalid came from a family of politicians. His Dad was the president and his mum, the minister of education. Allen’s mum ran a hospital with branches in different countries around the world, and his father was a billionaire before he died who left all of his wealth in Allen's name.
“Yo! Didn’t Khalid say he will be in school early today?” this question was asked by Prince and directed towards Allen. “He said so last night. I d-” Allen was cut short by the ringing of Prince's phone. He answered the call after seeing it was Khalid.
“Bro, where are you?” asked Prince into the phone. “Oh really? What are you going to do now?” he listened for a while before replying. “Okay, no problem. Lectures are about to start so try to hurry. Bye.” he said and ended the call then turned the relay the message to Allen. "He said his car just developed a fault this morning and It took some time for It to be fixed, but he’s on his way now.”
“Why didn’t he just bring another car? That's not the only car he got. He could have saved himself the time”
“You already know how Khalid is. Once he makes plans with a certain thing, he makes sure to follow to the end notwithstanding anything,” replied Prince. They both smiled, knowing exactly how their close friend was.
