Ross desperately struggled to break free from whatever was pulling him down. An image of the warning signs at the beach popped into his mind – rip currents. All the experts said not to fight the current, instead swim parallel until you are out of it. Forcing himself to relax, he began swimming parallel with the current, ignoring the weight of his clothes and boots. He would need them to help retain as much heat as he could. The last thing he wanted to do was to freeze to death before he got to shore.
