Kevin was leaning against the SUV at the airfield, waiting for the Emery jet to arrive. He tried to portray himself as always calm and in control, which he usually was. But right now, he felt like he was ready to crawl out of his skin with excitement. He was going to meet his new grandson, and he could hardly wait. He stood absent-mindedly chewing on his lip rings as he gazed off toward the horizon, hoping to see the plane. “If you keep chewing on those, you are going to chip a tooth,” Jake said as he walked toward Kevin. “What are you doing out here?” Kevin asked with a smile as he leaned against the vehicle beside Kevin. “I came to walk Amber home. She will want to stretch her legs and relax a little after being cooped up on the plane all day,” Jake said. “Is that the only reason?”
