Amelia let Lily take over to race home. She was in a panic. She had just found what she wanted to do with her life, and now, her mate suddenly appeared. She would have to leave Obsidian and move to wherever he was from. Amelia would have to give up the life she was looking forward to having and do whatever she could in a new home she did not want to go to.
As Amelia entered the landing pad circle clearing, she screamed through the mind link to her mother, "MOM!...MATE!...VAMPIRE!"
She closed the link and pushed even faster to reach home. She did not shift or even slow down as she bolted up the steps and crashed through the glass and wood door, splintering it and spraying shards of glass into the house.
