Olivia quickly arrived at William’s house. She shifted on the porch and went inside. She could hear Rebecca speaking with Will in the bedroom as she hurriedly dressed. Olivia walked to the bedroom to find her daughter and William lying together. He had pulled a sheet across them to cover their bodies from their waist to their knees.
“How is she?” Olivia asked as she went to the bed and placed her hand on Amelia’s shoulder. The amount of heat coming from her body was shocking.
“It is like she is running an extremely high fever,” Rebecca answered. “She and Will can stay right where they are, and I will start trying to bring her temperature down.”
“I’m so sorry,” Will whispered, kissing Amelia’s head and stroking her hair. “If I had known, I would never have marked her.”
