Amelia had dozed off only thirty minutes into the drive. William cradled her in his arms as much as he could with the seat belt holding her in place. He was playing with her hair, not paying attention to the others in the vehicle, when Kevin spoke from the front passenger seat.
"You are so sweet to her," Kevin said.
Will looked up to see Kevin watching them in the rearview mirror.
"It's the only way I know how to be or want to be with her," William answered. "She exudes such kindness and sweetness. I'm not sure I could ever even be mad at her."
