Dr. Clark and Dr. Reese were waiting for the ambulance at the emergency room doors when it arrived. Nurses Jerry and Mica had the rooms prepped and ready for Everly and Julian. Rebecca did not miss the second of shock that crossed the doctors' faces before they went back to neutral expressions.
"What happened?" Dr. Clark asked as he helped Jonah out of the ambulance with Everly.
"Tree trunks were dropped on them at the art center," Jonah told him. "Julian covered Everly, so he took the brunt of it."
"Don't say anything!" Olivia ordered the doctor as she hurried to reach her daughter. "It was not an accident, and Everly does not know that or how bad things are. We will tell her after everyone is treated."
