CHAPTER 14

Rainah’s POV

After having the lunch in my cabin with a Lucy who is hopelessly obsessed with my lunch box that mom sent for me this morning, I cleaned my lips with the wet wipes that I always carry with myself.

“Tell aunt Veena that she is a god” Lucy exclaimed.

“She already believes that” i said and we both giggled, we both know how my mom loves to praise herself and her cooking, and her cooking is something which we are also very fond of.

“Seriously nothing beats the Indian food that your mother made, I wish to have a mother like her” she pouted. I giggled and she glared at me and I raise both my hands as if surrendering. We both know that her mother aunt Ruby hardly knows how to cook but she can bake though and she also owns a bakery which she named after their daughter; Lucy’s. And it’s her father Uncle Joy who cook for them at home. They are a sweet couple too, just like my parents.

“Well how about aunt Ruby’s cakes?” I teased her as I know she loves the cakes made by her mother. She rolled her eyes, “That is an exception though” she said.

“Yeah—“ I paused as I heard the ping of the notification tone of my cell phone. I reached for it and grab it. I wonder who or what is it, I don’t really get messages from anybody other than a few people, but from a few days I have been receiving some blank massages from some unknown numbers. I tried to call in those numbers but no response. I even block a few but still everyday I will receive massage from a different number.

I checked the notification bar and again the same blank massage from a new number is there. I opened it and as usual there is nothing inside, I immediately blocked that number but what caught my attention was another massage that I have received a few minutes back; It’s from Luca’s sister, Janet.

From: Janet

You are a very good friend of mine and that is why I want you to know something, it is about Luca. If you want to know about it then come and meet me at Urban Adventures at 7 pm tonight.

Well that’s weird; she is a very good friend of mine since college and it was her who introduced me to her brother Luca at first. I wonder what it is that she can’t tell me over phone is.

“Who is it?” I look up and saw Lucy with a suspicious look on her face, “Janet; Luca’s sister” I told her.

“So why are you looking so confuse?” she asked again noticing my confuse self.

“Umm she said that she has something to tell me about Luca, so she wants to meet me at Urban Adventures tonight at 7 pm” I finished with a frown.

“So are you going there?” I asked.

“May be, I don’t know. I will have to ask my parents first, you know dad didn’t even wanted to me to rejoin office this morning, I can only imagine his face when I will ask him about going out to the club” I sighed and kept my phone aside, as much as I want to call Janet right now, I know she will not tell me anything over the phone. I know how she is, and I know it is something important.

“I don’t know why but I am having a bad feeling about it” I blurt it out.

“C'mon you are over thinking again, may be she wants to discuss about the surprise party you all are planning for his birthday” she said I just hummed. The bad feeling is not leaving my mind.

“May be you are right, I am just thinking too much” I sighed. She smiled and got up from her seat, “Let me know if you want me to come with you, you know I am always in for parties” she squealed and tried to cheered me up a bit, I smiled and nodded. I am really blessed to have a friend like her in my life.

Lucy left the cabin, and it was again me and my seclusion. I sighed and resumed working on the pending files: there are many.

Soon its 5 pm, as I heard everyone started wrapping up for the day. I got a call from dad a few minutes back where he told me that he is on his way to my office building to pick me up. i started wrapping up for the day too, when I heard Lucy’s voice from my behind

“HWAAAA” she yelled near my ear lightly making me squeal in shocked.

“Jesus Lucy do you want me to get a heart attack?” I exclaimed placing a hand on my rapidly beating heart, this girl will kill me some day, I swear.

“HAHAHAHAHA” she started laughing holding her stomach, “you should have seen your face hahahahaha” she laughed again. Seriously this girl has the audacity to laugh at my face after giving me a mini heart attack. I glared at her putting both my hands of my hips. She laughed again looking at my fuming red face.

“Ok enough Lucy” I greeted my teeth and she raise her hand in the air surrendering. She bit her lips and took a few deep breaths to stop her laugh.

“But that was funny though” she said and chuckled earning a light slap from me on her left arm.

“Ouuu it hurts” she rubbed the place on her arm and I roll my eyes; such a drama queen.

“What are you doing here?” I asked taking my handbag that was placed neatly on the side of the desk.

“Umm about that, I want tell you that I won’t be able to join you tonight” she sound guilty.

“Why” I asked as we both walks towards the elevator and waited for it to open. I heard her sigh and I look at her face, she looks really guilty.

“What happen are you okay?” I asked her rubbing her arm. “Something came up, umm… I will tell you about it later, but for now I am really sorry. I really wanted to accompany you for tonight” she said with a guilty expression.

“Hey its okay, no big deal” I said and gave her a side hug; I know something is bugging her but I won’t ask her now as I could see she is not ready to share yet. I just hope everything turns out to be fine for her.

The elevator door opened and we both stepped in it. The elevator was quite full as its closing hour and everyone is heading towards home. We both sighed.

“I hope everything turns out to be fine” I said and she nodded.

“Rain are you sure you to go sweetie?” mom asked me as I was getting ready to meet Janet. I sighed and nodded, I know both dad and mom are worried about me because according to them I am still injured and should take rest. I can’t blame them for worrying about me, and honestly speaking I am not a very big fan of clubs and all, but Janet sounded serious and I am really curious to know the reason. I nodded to what mom asked me.

“Mommy I promise I will be home before 10” I said and she rolled her eyes.

“I am not worried about the time dear, I am worried about your health and you injury. I just want you to take rest” she said and I heard her realizing a deep breath, “you sure that you’re going to be okay?” she asked and I hugged her, “Yes mommy, now tell me how am I looking?” I asked her as I move in a slow circular motion to give her a 360 degree view of my attire.

I was wearing a cute grey and black drawstring short with a simple white spaghetti top and a black denim jacket over it to make it a bit less revealing and I paired it up with white and grey sneakers. For hair, I just let them be in their own world as I was looking okay, even without tying my hair. I just let my hair down. As for make up, I put some compact, nude lipstick, eyeliner and mascara. All in all I look okay.

“Do you ever look bad?” mom said and I chuckled. “Yeah according to you I always look good even if I look scrawny for the rest of the world” I pouted.

“Who told my baby that she is scrawny, I don’t know why you never see the beauty of yours. Do you have any idea of how gorgeous you are” she said and put a loose string of my hair behind my ear, “and about that Luca… let me tell you, he is an a*shole if doesn’t see your real beauty” saying it she rolled her eyes and I widen my eyes at her use of words.

“MOMMY!!!” I said and she rolled her eyes, “what? He really is an a*shole, I am telling you” she said as a matter of fact and I shook my head. Speaking of Luca, it’s been a while since we meet or talk over the phone. I wish if he could also come with his sister to the club tonight, I want to meet him, not because I miss him but I really want to divert my mind from Arthur; I have been having dreams of him almost every night.

"Okay mommy now I got to go, you take care" I said kissing her cheeks, I felt something cool in my palm, I look down and saw a peper spray. I gave her a confused look, "Mom? "

"Keep it" she said sternly and I just shrugged.

I bid my good byes to her and dad who was busy watching news in our living room.

"Did the cab arrived" he enquired and I nodded.

As I entered the cab, I told the driver my destination and he just nodded and drove off. I look outside the window, fiddling with the pendant that once my knight gave me. It is kind of a lucky charm for me, and it somehow gave me strength, it makes me feel as if he is here with me. It is the only thing I have which he gave me.

I sighed softly, I don't know why but the feeling of uneasiness is not leaving my heart. I don't know what Janet wants to talk about, but I worried about it. She said she wants to tell me something that is somewhere related to Luca.
