CHAPTER 1

"How are we just hearing of this new place" Becca stared at her elder sister in disbelief, but she knew the stupid girl would somehow miss it "I will look at you too, Becca”, she was getting stared down by her sister alright. "Rebecca, if you have something to say to me, just do so,don't sit there looking at me like I am stupid!" Becca swallowed the little scream that had formed in her mouth, she hated her own name for some reason she was yet to fathom and had settled for a pleasant alteration that her Sister conveniently forgets when she wants to annoy her "it's Becca!" her sister chuckled "girls aren't you worn out already?" Becca shifted her attention to her mother. who was just then battling a pothole that appeared from nowhere. "Mother, why are you just mentioning a whole Family that's ours?" that was the question she expected from her sister but Ruelle was not one to think beyond what her eyes could see "I don't care about any Family, if they are as beautiful as the trees here, i will like them too!" Becca could see the little smile that was beginning to form on the side of her Mother's lip, overtime she came to realize her Mother preferred her sister's simple mind to hers. who could blame her?, her mind disturbed even herself on some days "that's sweet Ruelle!" Becca sneered at her Mother "yes Ruelle you're sweet! now answer me Mother" Until yesterday they were only a family of three, she knew of her Father only from the story her mother told and the picture that hung in the halway, she knew his name even before she recognized the letters below the proud face that was her Father and when she could finally read, she only spoke his name in whispers like she couldn't bare to share him with the world.she loved him and somehow she felt his love for her, she knew he would have understood her in ways her Mother did not "There's nothing to tell Becca, everything i know i told the both of you last night!" Becca could hear the irritation in her mother's voice but there was something else, fear, Her mother was scared. "Why would Father make you keep his Family secret?" That was a good question coming from Ruelle but there was a better question "why did you feel the need to keep such a secret Mother?" Her Family was weird, she knew that even as a child, when the moon got too big and round, when other Mothers let their children basks in its glow, her own Mother panicked and would usher them to their bedrooms and only left when she was satisfied no moonlight leaked in.She kept no friends too,her Mother was their only friend "does this have anything to do with why you wouldn't let us keep friends? she was letting her mind wander again and she hated it, she trusted her Mother but she could not wrap her head around the idea of meeting a Family only when she was about to turn eighteen "why don't you girls try enjoying this beautiful view this ride is offering you?" Becca nodded and allowed her Mother to avoid their questions, she would ask again, she would ask when she knew her Mother could not run. she settled deeper into the carseat letting the window down a little and closing her eyes as the winds hit her face. When her eyes opened, her mother was turning the car into a massive space in front of an even bigger house, her eyes liked what they saw, she was unsure what she was expecting. Her Mother had told them they were headed for a "remote place" but this place was simply one gigantic garden with tall trees to each side of the building she could see from the car "Wake up sleepy head!" Becca watched Ruelle jump out of the car and into the arms of Man who came running as soon as their vehicle stopped. Becca looked at a pair of strong male arms as they wrapped around her sister, the Man held Ruelle for a long time as though they were reuniting Father and Daughter "how is this girl my sister Mother?" Ruelle's carefree nature always made her feel stuck up and unfriendly "you're twins Becca, both of you cannot be alike" she nodded at her Mother and pulled her lips in a fake smile "and you're sure she's older?" she watched her Mother laugh and got out of the car "hi!" Becca extended her hand to the many people that had crowded around the vehicle in hopes that one would take it but got dragged and pressed against a body instead "this one is so polite!" she tried to close her hearing to the talks as they flew over her head "so tiny! girl don't you eat?" there was a pair of hand on her buttocks, she swiftly held them and spun around to confront the pervert but a sweet smile from an old woman greeted her instead "she's fast" she tried to return the smile "like your Father Rebecca, just like my Son" Becca's eyes grew wider and wider "Grandmother?" the woman nodded and held out her hands to Becca "grandma!" Ruelle edged Becca away and ran into the open arms of the old woman.
