Breakfast Morning

1225 Words
The next morning I woke up early to take a shower. Even after the two showers last night I still couldn't get the smell of alcoholic wolves out of my hair. Hopefully these people would smell and act better when not under the effects of their monthly lunacy. I tied my hair into a tight bun the less hair hanging down the better, if I needed to make a quick escape the less that hung off me the easier it would be to slip through their grasps.  I wasn’t nervous about meeting this alpha, I was simply terrified. I knew Claire wouldn’t let anything happen to me, but she was just a stand in caretaker of the pack, the alpha had no reason to obey her if he really wanted me dead.  The streets were a stark contrast to the previous night. They were perfectly cleaned, no evidence of the bacchanalia. The shops that lined the streets were decent enough cafe’s waiting for the morning breakfast crowd to enter. Coming back to Claire’s bar I finally got to see the name. It was poorly lit last night but now seeing that it was named Jaeger Bombs I felt embarrassed that there was a possibility someone might see me go in there. Snapping my fingers I made sure to block my image from others as I stepped inside the bar. The booths were loaded with people, well werewolves. Six to a booth three on each side and they were tossing jokes and jabs as they waited for their food to be done.  Claire was nowhere to be seen, but if the pack was waiting on food she was most likely in the kitchen. I ducked behind the bar, peaking my head inside what was my best guess for where the kitchen was located. Luckily I was not disappointed. Claire wasn’t alone, Mr Icy Stare was talking with her, or arguing more like but keeping with voices down so they wouldn’t carry to the people outside.  “Look Claire, I need you to tell me what she was wanting.” “I already told you, it wasn’t anything pack related. So just forget about it.” “You know I can’t do that.” I knew it, the wolves weren’t okay with me being here after all. If I show my face here they’re going to kill me.  “LIsten here, that girl is not any danger to this pack, and if you want these wolves to be fed and continue to enjoy my bar’s commodities you’ll leave her alone. Do I make myself clear?” Sighing, he drops his hands, “You know you’re the only person in this town that can talk to me like that.” “It's a gift kiddo.”  I could see him about to turn around and I ducked into the bathroom hoping to stay out of view. I poked my head out after he passed and saw him sit with his back to me. He sat at a table bigger than anyone else’s but oddly enough it only had three people there. Two of them faced me, but Mr Icy Stare kept his back to me. I didn’t want to see his face, but I did miss those gorgeous eyes.  Shaking my head and slipped quickly into the kitchen tapping Claire on the shoulder. She must of been expecting someone else because she turned spoon raised already yelling, “I told you boy get your ass out there or I’ll castrate you!” Shaking her head she finally noticed it was me and tossed her arms around me, “Oh Amalia, I’m so happy you came!” TUrning back to her batch of gravy she continued to stir frantically, “Can you get those biscuits out of the oven for me? Breakfast is almost ready.” “You sure you’re happy? I think some people might not be so glad.” bending down I open the oven, the steam wafting out catching my eyes. I reached over to grab the oven mits and pulled out the large tray noting the already large batch finished in enough bowls for each table to have one.  “Oh kiddo, you heard that?” Guessing correctly that I had heard the disagreement she flipped her spoon gravy splattering behind her, “There’s nothing to worry about. He was just curious about you. No big deal.” “Still,” I finished putting the biscuits in the bowl and returned the tray to the stove top, “Maybe it’s be better if I just stayed back here. You know until they leave.” “No niece of mine is going to be eating in the kitchen! You’ll sit with me at the alpha table. Don’t try arguing with me either, you’re my guest.” As much as I wanted to argue with her I couldn’t pass up the invitation. Her personality was too strong and if I was going to keep her happy I might as well do as she says for right now. Picking my battles was going to get me out of this situation.  Clapping her hands together she jumped happily, “Okay, so sausage gravy is done, bacon is crisp, pancakes are fluffy, and biscuits are all set. Let’s give these wolves some breakfast.”  Looking at the mountains of food set out I couldn't believe so much food was needed to feed this pack, “So do I just serve each table or-” “Oh hell no kiddo. We put it all on the bar and stand back quickly before they take an arm off. Those boys out there will grab anything the morning after the full moon.” Claire passed me and opened the kitchen door, “Okay, the ones to help me carry the food out get first grab!”  I looked past her as the wall of boys at their physical peak launched themselves into the kitchen grabbing bowls, plates, and food. They each took a trip and quickly had the entire buffet set and ready to go. Claire winked at me as I noticed we were going to be without food very quickly. Turning to her back counter she produced two plates made with a stack of pancakes, two strips of bacon and two fried eggs. She motioned for me to follow and lead me out to the main area.  The scene at the bar was a nightmare as back strips were flying to get on everyone’s plates. Luckily there was  little commotion at what she called “The Alpha Table.” Which just happened to be the same table Mr Icy Stare and Scruffy Boy were sitting earlier. She sat my plate down next to Mr Icy Stare’s not empty chair and took her own seat across from me. “Now don't over react, but you’re going to sit next to the alpha.” “I’m what?” Icy Stare was the Alpha? He was Isaac?
