Elsie's pov
"Hey, can you move aside so I can talk to, Elsie. It's her I came for, not you."
Aria's mouth fell open at Ryan's audacity.
"The nerve you have to want to get close to Elsie after what you did!"
"You're a f*****g loser, Ryan. You spread those lies about her because she rejected you. Is that low your esteem is?" I could tell that Aria was having a hard time trying to stay quiet. If this went on any further, the people reading it the study might get distracted.
"Can you please go away, Ryan. You're the last person I want to speak to." I said, burying my head in my hands.
"Please, Elsie. Just give me a minute to apologise." Ryan insisted, trying to move closer towards me but Aria blocked his path.
"What part of don't get close to her don't you understand, dimwit?" Aria shot at him.
"You can call me whatever you want. I deseve it, just help me plead with her. I didn’t know what came over me."
I grounded my teeth in irritation. There nerve he has to stand in front of me and lie through his teeth.
"You really think I'm dumb, don't you?" I raised my head up slowly. My eyes were from all the hours I had spent crying.
"I agreed to coach you because I had no other choice and what do I get in return? A lifelong stigma!" I said against my breath.
"Get the f**k out of here before I smack you across the face!" I curled my fist into a ball l, holding back the anger inside of me threatening to spill out.
"Elsie. I messed up, I know, but just give me a chance to explain myself. I still want you as my coach."
"And I'll be damned if I ever coach you anything again!" I said in an aggravated tone and buried my face once again in my hands.
Adrian’s eyes widened in disbelief, "Can you just forgive me already...it was just a mistake."
"f*****g liar!" Aria cursed at him.
I shot my head upward, my gaze piercing into Adrian’s soul. "The only way I'll ever forgive you is if you retrcat your statement in front of the entire school, tell them I did none of the things you accused me of doing and make them know, I was only coaching because you're a blockhead."
Adrian’s eyes widened the more. "What...it's not enough that I'm trying to apologise. I never apologise to anybody."
"You're a heartless inconsiderate jerk. Then why are you here apologising in the first place. It's not enough that you damaged my reputation, is it?"
"I said i'm sorry, Elsie, just accept the apology..."
"You know what, you're not even acting remorseful and its shows how disgusting you are!" Aria picked up from where she stopped.
Already, people had started to gather round us. The girls amomg them didn't hold back. They moved closer to us while they spoke, making sure that I heard every word of what they were saying.
"Look, it's the w***e. I'm sure she's begging Ryan again for another chance to get in his pants."
"Ew, how low of her." Another girl replied.
I was sure Ryan heard all of that, he didn't say anything. He didn’t try to prove that any of the things he said was false.
I looked him dead in the eye, expecting him to say something, anything at all but he didn't. He merely mouthed the words I'm sorry and walked away.
"You're such a jerk!" Aria called after him.
"Let's get out of here." Aria extended her hand to me as the gossips were getting louder. Their laughter was ringing in my ears like a bell that had been stationed to never go away.
I took Aria's hand but before we could get the chance to leave, a student was hovering over us. My heart clenched at the sight of the student, while Aria stood her ground, ready to defend me from whatever he had come to say.
"The principal sends for you." He said to me simply and walked away like he wasn't interested in all of the shenanigans going on.
I and Aria exchanged glances. A gasp rippled among the students that had been mocking me.
"Do you think the principal knows what she's done?" A student said loudly to my hearing.
"She's definitely going to get explelled. There is no escaping." Another replied.
My heart sank to my stomach at the thought of getting expelled. Sweat had gathered over my forehead, the inside of my body burning from heat.
"I'll be back." I said to Aria and excused myself.
"Let me go with you." She insisted but I declined, this was my battle to fight.
I made it to the principals office, placed three knocks on his door before I let myself in.
My palms were sweaty from anxiety. I rubbed my hands against my skirt as the principal motioned to me to sit.
"Miss Carter. You look worried, what seems to be the matter?" He asked out of obligation, I knew he didn’t really care. But then, he wouldn't ask that if he the rumors of Ryan's lies had gotten to him.
At first, I thought of breaking the news to the principal, but I will only be setting myself up, what evidence did I have to prove that I didn't really sleep with Ryan.
"I'm just having a bad day, sir." I answered, that wasn’t utterly a lie, but it wasn’t the complete truth either.
"We all have our bad days but I'm sure you'll be fine." He said coldly.
"Have you finally made your decision?" He asked.
I couldn’t ’ pretend like I didn't know what he was talking about. "I don't think I can continue tutoring Ryan."
The principal's face twisted into a scowl, "Listen to me, young lady. Ryan's father is on the verge of withdrawing his fundings to the school if Ryan continues to fail."
"There’s nobody in the best place to tutor Ryan apart from you. He seems to be improving and you're not about to stop now."
"But..."
"No, but." He held up his finger in the space in front of me, "It's either you continue tutoring him or you can kiss your scholarship goodbye.”
