Chapter 011

1003 Words
Elsie's Pov "We're here, Elsie." The car came to a stop in front of Ryan's house. I looked out of the window slowly to confirm if we were really at his house. So he'd really brought me to his house...no...not brought, this was practically kidnap, I had been brought here against my wish. I heard the car door open and close and close,b then I heard the car door open again, this time, Ryan was standing by the door next to me, holding it open for me. "Elsie." He called, poking me gently. I didn’t feel a thing. My body was numb, my heart was racing with different thoughts on how to escape this. But I knew deep down that there was no escaping from this. I stared at Ryan, letting him see the anger boiling through me. He looked really uncomfortable but he held the door open still, waiting for me to get down. I did and Intentionally stomped on his toes hard as I walked past. He clenched his lips together painfully, swallowing the sound that threatened to escape. That didn't give me as much satisfaction as I thought it would. The chauffeur was standing at a distance watching the entire thing. When I got to where he stood, he willingly led me inside while Ryan limped behind us. We got inside the house and the butler took over from him. "Welcome miss." The butler greeted with warmth. I ignored him, he noticed my anger and decided not to speak me to me until we got to the study. Good for him. I flung my bag onto one of the chairs and sank into another, burying my face into my palms. I fought back the tears that was going to spill. Minutes passed and Ryan had not showed up yet. "Where the hell is he, does he think I have all day to spend here?" I yelled into nothingness. Suddenly, the air in the room shifted. I felt a cold chill run down my spine as though some outerwordly being had just stepped into the room. When I heard the door close, it confirmed that someone had actually walked into Ryan's study, and that presence didn't feel like Ryan's. I turned to see Mr Blake, Ryan's father standing at the door, his hands hidden inside his pocket. My body froze. His woody cologne filled my nostrils, causing another fog in my brain. "M..Mr Blake..." I stuttered, trying to get my words out properly. This wasn’t the first time I was seeing Ryan's father. I had seen him when he attended some of the school's events. But this was the first time I was seeing him up close. In fact, this was the first time of me being in the same room with me. "You are Elsie Carter." He said with an air of authority so chilling, the temperature in the room dropped. There was not a single trace of warmth in his voice, his voice reverberated across the room until it settled inside my chest. He looked so much like Ryan, except, his eyes had a piercing gaze that could numb you if you stared into it for too long. He looked like a man that had been refined by the worst weather conditions. "Yes...yes I am...sire." I said when I finally found my voice. His gaze swept over me before he proceeded to walking across the room. "You've done a really wonderful job with my son." As though right on cue, Ryan showed up at the door way. I glanced at him briefly before my gaze landed back on his father. "You see, I'd wanted to take Ryan out of the hockey team and completely withdraw him from school when his grades started dropping terribly." He stated and shot Ryan a scornful look. I was bewildered that a father would look at his own son that way—with so much spite. "I'm glad you agreed to tutor him. He told me you two are best of friends and i hope you keep up with that relationship until Ryan picks up again." 'Best of friends of indeed!' I glanced at Ryan again, he refused to meet my gaze this time around. So not only had he fed the entire school with lies, he was feeding his own father lies too. I continued to stare at Ryan, not minding if his father read meaning to it or not. The look in gave him, mirrored my every thought. He looked back up at me and his eyes seemed to plead with me, as if to say: "Please, I know Iied, but please don't tell my father anything." "Elsie Carter!" The deep voice broke the stare between I and Ryan. "As a reward, I'm going to triple the amount of whatever you're being paid currently." My ears shot up at the word 'triple' I seemed to forget everything else in that moment. 'Triple the amount of what I was being paid currently?' Was this some sort of compensation for what Ryan was putting me through. Did Ryan really think he could soil my image all he wanted and make up for it monetarily? Every fibre in me fought to turn to down the request. I opened my mouth to say something...anything, but words failed me. My gaze fell onto the floor, my eyes darting aimlessly across the ground. "But I must warn you. Tutorship is the only reason you're being allowed around my son. If i get to find out anything else going on..." It was obvious he let his voice trail off internationally. He didn’t need to spell much out, I already knew the implications if I crossed boundaries, I knew the implications long before I had even accepted to tutor Ryan. "I'm making you an offer." He wasn't finished yet. Make my son pass the current semester with straight A's and I'll secure a spot for you to intern at my company whenever you wish." My jaw dropped open in shock.
