Chapter 009

1021 Words
Adrian’s pov I saw the look in her eyes when she found me with Sophia, like she was disappointed that I was out here living my life to the fullest. Gosh, I wish that night had never come, I wished what we did never happened, now I'm going to live with the guilt forever. "What's the matter, babe?" Sophia's soft voice broke through my thoughts. I looked down at her with a smile on my face and kissed her lightly on the lips. "Nothing, baby." I responded, trying to put her at ease. "Why did your step sister react that way when she saw us together?" She asked. 'Well damn, I hope you're happy about this, Elsie, you keep ruining every of my chances with Sophia.' I intoned internally. "We had some kind of disagreement." I said, trying to ease her doubts, who would ever believe that I and Elsie had done anything? And that's why I had to put her in her place. I couldn’t afford letting the school know about what we had done. Elsie didn't have a loose mouth, I mean, she couldn't even stand up for herself when she wad accused falsely of sleeping with Ryan. But that didn't matter. There were chances that she could accidentally let Aria know about what was going on and that could be bad for me. "Come on, babe. Don't think too much about it. I've told you how annoying she can be and she get on my nerves all the time." I said and pulled her closer to me, planting another kiss on her lips. Sophia eyed me like she was suspicious of something but she didn’t say another word after that. She leaned into me and allowed me to kiss her. The break was over, so I and Sophia had to go our separate ways. I said goodbye to Sophia and immediately walked out. I needed to find Elsie before I went for my nect class. I knew where she always went if she wasn't at the cafeteria. Not that I was glad to admit I always knew about her whereabouts, but she never went anywhere else and wherever she went, depending on her mood for that day was actually very predictable. I headed straight for the study knowing that she will be there, instead, I met a crowd of students gathered in a corner, the topic on their lips was Elsie. I looked around for Elsie. She wasn't here, I only saw Aria seated on a chair, her hands folded into her stomach as her gaze stayed glued to the floor. "Where could she be?" I muttered under my breath. I decided to check the restrooms, but I couldn't go into the female section so I angrily left the study and headed for my nect class. I couldn’t believe the disgusting things I had heard about Elsie from the other students. Did they actually believe that Elsie had actually slept with Ryan? Well if they did, I didn't. But that didn't matter anyway because after I warn Elsie sternly, I don’t want to have anything to do with her and I'm going to keep my distance as far away as possible from her. I went about the remaining classes I had left for the day and when the closing hour came, I quickly packed up my things and headed straight for the parking lot. Usually, I would inform Sophia I was leaving and some other of my friends but I had important things to attend to. I got to where my bike was and hopped onto it when I felt someone staring at me from a distance. With my helmet in between my hands, I looked around but found no one staring at me, all of the students in the area where all going about their businesses. But the uneasy feeling never left, I was convinced someone was staring at me. I hopped off my bike and placed the helmet carefully on the seat so I could search thoroughly. "Geez." I said as I rolled my eyes and pinched the bridge of my nose. Why hadn't I noticed her earlier? Elsie had been the one standing in a corner staring at me. The moment she saw that I noticed her, she came out from her hiding spot and began walking towards me. My first instinct was to head back to my bike and ride away but I stayed and let her come to me. She quickened her pace until she got to where I stood. The minute she was within arms reach, I grabbed her by the wrist and began pulling her away. "Adrian, Adrian...you're hurting me." She whimpered. I didn't care, I didn't let go of her until I walked behind a building where I was sure nobody could see us then I let her go. Her eyes were filled with so much emotions I had to force myself to stare into her eyes. "Adrian..." she began. "Don't Adrian me!" I shot at her. "What was the meaning of that stunt you pulled during the break period today?!" "I..." her lips parted to say something but it seemed like her words were stuck in her throat. "Cat's got your tongue?" I asked. "Look, I don't even care about you at this point. "If you try to give anyone the impression of what happened between us that night, you're gonna be sorry." I let out, not wanting to outrightly threaten her. "Keep your distance away from me. Don't even try to look at me when you walk past me at school, do you understand?" Hopefully she did. Tears were starting to fall from her eyes, I couldn’t stay here any further. My eyes caught Ryan standing behind us. I had the impression that he must have heard everything we said. I didn’t care, so long as I was sure I didn't spill top much. I knew it was a bad idea leaving Elsie alone with Ryan, but I didn't care. I looked back at her one last time, seeing Ryan get closer to her as I walked off.
