After going to the most boring parts of town, we decided to make a stop at the mall.
"Did we really have to go to the town sign? That was a waste of time. I mean if all you were gonna do was say the name of our town and point to a damn sign, then I wouldn't have walked twenty-minutes just to get there "Vince complained for the one-hundredth time.
I was starting to regret my decision of letting him come. I mean, I know I kind of begged, but he was starting to get on my last nerve.
Alexandria sighed in annoyance. I could tell that she was feeling the exact same way that I was.
"Did you really have to bring him?" She whispered in her upset state. It was kind of funny to hear her soft voice in a tone other than happy. Her innocent little voice was now an innocent little annoyed voice.
I nodded and rolled my eyes, "I'm seriously contemplating ditching him"
We then felt a presence behind us, "No one told you guys to come to my backyard and beg me to come along to this little adventure. I was perfectly fine being alone"
"Yeah maybe we should've left you alone..," I trailed turning around to face him stopping Alex also in the process, "Maybe we should've left you to burden yourself with your constant complaining"
He blinked at me and gave me an unreadable expression and then spoke, "Well now you're stuck with me. So I guess you'll just have to deal with this burden"
I could hear a hint of pain in his voice, "Vince, I didn't mean it like that. You're not a burden"
I put my hand onto his shoulder just to have it shrugged off, "Yeah, whatever"
I rolled my eyes, "So. Alex, what kind of stores do you guys have here anyway? Do you guys have Hollister? Aero? H&M?"
Alexandria furrowed her brows towards me and shook her head as we walked through the mall, "I've never heard of those stores"
I almost gasped. Please don't let this be one of those malls filled with crap.
"What do you mean? Then where are you taking us?" I asked as we continued to follow her.
She shrugged, "I honestly don't know. I told you that I don't really come here"
I slapped my hand to my forehead as Vince ran a rough hand through his hair muttering a great.
She then pointed to a random store, "How about we go into this one?"
I looked to the sign titled The Hut. It looked like one of the places that I would actually visit. From the outside, I could see that the inside was kind of dim and the glass display consisted of some nice white tops and some very colorful pants.
It also had gold sandals and white high tops that I had absolutely adored. I motioned for Vince and Alexandria to come along inside with me. We all entered and I could have sworn that the entire place had gotten even more beautiful.
I grabbed onto Alex's hand as we made our way to some random racks of clothing that were on sale. We allowed Vince to go on to the men's section and we told him that we would meet him there when we were done.
"This would look so cute on you" I spoke holding up a colorful pair of overalls to Alex's body.
She shook her head looking down, "I told you, we are here for you and just you. I don't want anything. But it would look nice on you"
I shook my head, "I don't think they have this outfit in my size"
I rolled my eyes and sighed, "I swear they make these outfits for midget people or something"
Now don't get me wrong, I wasn't fat, I just have a bigger waist than most girls my height. I wasn't too short, but I was getting there. Since I was wide, everything that I'd wear my size would be too tight. Since I was short, the bigger sizes would be too long.
I wasn't insecure though because the nice clothing that did fit me, were perfect.
Alexandria giggled and began to randomly pick stuff up off the rack that she thought would fit me.
There was a particular gold dress that she had picked out for me that I had absolutely adored.
Though it was plain, it had spaghetti straps and the top part looked like it went inward and out towards my curves. It wasn't short, but not too long either which made me love it even more.
I guess you could say that I had a thing for unique items.
"I don't think that's going to fit me" I shook my head.
She pointed to the dressing rooms, "Won't you at least try it on first?"
I shrugged, "Okay...but will you try something on with me?"
Alex rolled her eyes and grabbed the same exact dress, but in white, "Fine. But I'm not buying"
I nodded. That's fair.
We made our way towards the dressing rooms and went our separate ways.
When I got into my dressing room, there was a weird vibe that I couldn't shake off.
I began to strip off my ears and clothing.
I slipped into the gold dress and it looked absolutely stunning.
As I stood there admiring the dress, a chill went down my spine. The weird feeling was growing stronger and stronger and I almost screeched when I turned around.
It was like my entire surroundings had just vanished and turned into a different one.
I rubbed my eyes and could have sworn that I was going absolutely mad. I looked down at the ground and my brows furrowed at the sight of the polished white tiled floor.
I then looked up to see a big glass chandelier shining above me. There were people dancing around me. They were all happy and smiling.
The men were wearing clothes that looked from the 1800's and all the women were wearing big poofy dresses with updos that ended with big hats.
To say that I was scared would be an understatement. I didn't know what was going on and why I was here.
Then a man showed up unexpectedly, just like last time, but it wasn't the same man.
My brows furrowed as he approached me.
He can see me?
"Nikolai, you know we need to speak about this" I gasped as his hand went right through me.
I then turned around to see the same girl from my dreams and her wrist being caught by the mysterious man.
She looked down and shook her head, "You shall leave before anyone sees us. You know the law"
Law? That sounded so familiar. I remember Meredith telling me something about a law.
"Shall we speak in private then? Please?" The man gave her a pleading stare as she gave in.
They both went into a room outside the ballroom that seemed to be vacant. I gave in to the pull dragging me behind the two people.
The room, like the ballroom had white floor tiles. It also had a big bed inside of it and the setting screamed old.
"Nikolai, please come with me. Run away with me to a place where no one will ever find us. Nothing shall go wrong, you said you've seen it yourself. I'll turn you and everything will go as planned"
My brows knitted together as I watched the two of them. Seen it? Like seen the future?
I laughed to myself a little, Jesse you're going insane.
I mean I knew my imagination was always outside the box, but this was way outside. This was millions of miles away from the box.
I wanted to scream and cry at the same time as I watched the couple fight.
Was this some kind of mind-f**k? I prayed to myself that this was just some creepy new-kid prank that the whole town was in on. I wouldn't be surprised if that was the case. This town was creepy as it was.
"No Marco, I can't leave them. They're my family. I can't betray them that way. And you know it is against my laws to turn. You know the consequences" I averted my eyes back to the conversation and saw that there were tears welling in Nikolai's eyes.
The man then began to speak, "But I thought you loved me" He grabbed her hands, "I would never do anything to take advantage of the power that we shall both eventually possess. Please Nikolai, I need you"
I looked into his eyes to see that he didn't look as sincere as his words.
Wait, was he f*****g with her?
"Please, runaway with me" he then looked away, "Or at least do me the honor of knowing the secret"
I looked at him and frowned, he's f*****g with her.
It was like watching one of those old movies where the girl is too stupid to notice, but everyone in the audience knows that the guys hiding something.
You could tell that he needed something from her that he couldn't get without her.
Nikolai spoke up, "You know I can't let you turn me. You know that it could change everything if we both possess the power. Even if it did work, we would only see snippets because that's all they allow me to see"
She looked up referring to them.
Who's them? And what do they mean by turning?
He frowned and let go of her hands, "So you don't love me? You won't go? You're just like the rest of them. You think that I would do something as low as hurt my love that way? You think I would hurt you and take all the power for me.."
He then began to get upset, "Fine, then don't let me turn you! Just don't expect there to be an us in the future they show you next time"
He practically spit in her face and on the verge of exiting, she ran to his side and grabbed his arm. I could see the slight smirk that ran across his face when she did this.
He was totally f*****g with her.
"Marco, I love you. Just don't leave me. I trust you" she smiled earning an even bigger one from him.
I could tell he was bullshitting her.
He turned around and grabbed her hands once again, "We shall sneak you out in three days time. Be ready my love."
Marco continued to run his hands through her hair as they exited the vacant room to go their separate ways into the ballroom.
I started on my route to follow them, but instead of being in the ballroom, I was back in the dressing room admiring the gold dress.
I looked in the mirror and took a deep breath, taking a minute to snap back into reality.
I could hear faint knocking coming from the outside and opened the door to see a worried Alexandria.
"Are you okay? I've been knocking for almost ten minutes" her brows were furrowed and lips were in an adorable pout.
I smiled, "Yeah I'm fine. The dress looks great on you"
I wasn't lying. Though I was trying to avoid any questioning from Alex about my current state, the white dress accented Alex's small figure beautifully.
She looked adorable. The dress fitted her in the most perfect way.
She looked into the body mirror outside of the dressing rooms and cracked a smile, "I guess it does, but I'm still not buying"
I rolled my eyes, "You're right. You're not, I am"
She shook her head," No. We can't have the same dress and besides it looks way better on you than me."
I rolled my eyes, "It could be like one of those weird friend things. Come on, please? You don't even have to wear it, just get it, for me."
Alex rolled her eyes and ran her hands down her dress with a smile, "Well, we do look good"
She tucked her bottom lip between her teeth and nodded in defeat, "Okay fine, but we can't show mama"
I nodded as we went our separate ways once more and into the dressing rooms. I hesitated for a while after putting my regular clothes back on.
I wondered if the fitting room incident would be a thing that happened every time I entered a fitting room, kind of like my reoccurring dreams, but it wasn't.
"Jesse, you've gone mad my dear" I spoke quietly to myself making my way out of the fitting room.
We had both dresses in our hands as we went over to the men's section to find Vince.
When we did, we found him with two shirts in his hands. One was black and the other was gray. Both shirts were short sleeved and plain.
I raised them up to his body, "So you're one of those people?"
He raised a brow, "What do you mean?"
I smirked, "You're a cellblock. The type of people that only wear one solid color all the time. Your colors in this case being black and gray"
He rolled his eyes and pointed to our dresses, "Pfft. So you guys are one of those pairs?"
He spoke mockingly, "What do you mean?"
He answered before we could say anything.
We furrowed our brows, "You guys are the things. When thing 1 gets something, thing 2 has to too. You're something in this case being gold dress and white dress"
He smirked at us as we all shared a laugh, "Shut up, let's just go pay"
After paying, we all decided to roam the mall. We didn't really find anything else and so we left.
It was just getting dark when I asked, "So where to next?"
Alex shrugged, "I don't know. This town is mostly woods and I took you to most of the places that I know of"
I looked to Vince, "How about you? Got anything to show us?"
Vince smirked, "I think I have something, but are you guys okay with getting wet?"
I looked to Alex and we both nodded slowly towards Vince.
"Alright, so let's go", he smiled.
