Rude Boy

913 Words
Before walking home, I noticed that instead of walking the small blocks to their homes, most students were picked up by a parent or guardian. I mean, I probably shouldn't be judging- but a 17/18 year old should be allowed to walk home on their own. Especially if they live two centimeters away. But who could blame them? I mean if I could get a ride from home to school every afternoon, I wouldn't pass it up for anything. With all respect for this town, I wouldn't be caught dead in the streets if I didn't have to be. They were scary & I would always get the weird feeling that someone was behind me. Everything was silent. If I were to be in a old west movie, not even the tumbleweeds would cross my path. Everything screamed creepy in this town and I hated it and even if people were to be walking, they all either wore some shades or huge hoodies. It was so weird. I just didn't understand. All day, I've been getting stared at and whispered about. Why was I the outcast in this situation? Why was I the only one here who found the things they do so unnatural? This inevitable silence, peoples odd paleness, the dim hallways... It was all just one big freak show in this town. I felt like I was in an episode of American Horror Story. Walking towards my home, I saw the houses covering each block when I noticed that there was a pattern. Blue House. Green House. Black House. 'Again' I thought, noticing how hard my boredom had struck. Blue House. Green House. Black House. Blue House. Green House. Bl- "Black House" I jumped hearing a deep voice from behind. I turned around to see Vince gazing down at my now intimidated frame. He was wearing his black shades which allowed me to see only a small silver from those shimmery eyes. His skin was almost glowing outside of the dark jacket that he wore. His biceps were beautiful in the reflecting sunlight. I couldn't help but just stare at the boy in front of me. "Take a picture kit, it'll last longer" he practically growled out. I rolled my eyes and turned on my heels allowing myself to continue on my walk home. Rude I could hear the paddle of footsteps from behind attempting to catch up. Vince huffed, "So what's up with the ears?" "None of your business" I sassed in a meaningless attempt to sound intimidating. Apart of me felt the need to impress while the other part just hated when people asked. He chuckled a little and my heart began to thud, "Fine don't tell me. I just thought you'd like to have a conversation to start off this walk of ten blocks" "Why are you even walking with me? Don't you have parents to pick you up?" I spoke irritated by his presence. Once again trying to seem prissy. I even added a little switch to my hips in the process. "One, we're neighbors dumb-a*s and two, my parents don't like me" he sighed out as if that were the most average sentence in the world. I immediately frowned and looked away. "Why does everyone hate you? What did you do?" Vince walked next to me in a mocking tone, "None of your business" A small smile unintentionally broke out on my face seeing him copy my walk, "Stop. You're embarrassing yourself" He laughed causing my heart to thud once again, "Stop. You're embarrassing yourself" I rolled my eyes, "Seriously stop, I hate that" He rolled his eyes and continued to strut, "Seriously stop, I hate that" "Ugh!" I screeched. "Ugh!" he smirked. I slapped his arm and picked up my pace whilst mumbling a small, "douche" under my breath. I could hear footsteps from behind following me to do the same. "Hey!" he caught up to me and grabbed me by the shoulders, "Kit, I was just playing. It was a joke" Another smile unintentionally broke out onto my face as we made our way home in the surprising comfortable silence. ------- I was finishing up my chemistry assignment when I heard a faint squeal coming from the outside of my house. Running over towards my window, I looked down towards the woods behind my house. There was then another squeal even louder than the last. It sounded like a girl. She sounded like she was in pain. In an urgent manner, I grabbed my sweatshirt and ran out of my house and into the woods. Huffing and puffing, I walked deeper into the woods almost forgetting how scary they could be. It was quiet and almost dark out. I could see my breath in the crisp air as I breathed in and out. The leaves swayed from the ground and trees. I looked around searching for the spot that I had seen from my window. Walking towards what I thought was the center of the woods from my bedroom, I could hear the cracking twigs from a far. It was then when I had heard the loudest most ear-wrenching screech of them all. Running towards the sound, I stopped just as quickly when it cut off. Where is that coming from? Why did it stop? Maybe your hearing things I thought to myself getting ready to backtrack to my home. I turned around and jumped when I bumped into a very large figure. "Vince?"
