“Hey cutie pie, are you coming today?" Meredith asked me at the lunch table.
It's been weeks and I've still been having the same dream about that girl Nikolai, her father, and no face. I called him no face, well because, he had no face every time I saw him.
All I could see was bruises from the side, but there were no sign of eyes, or lips, not even a nose.
Nothing.
Meredith tapped me and I jumped. I looked around at my three friends.
She gave me an odd look and frowned, "Are you okay Jess? You seem a little jumpy. Have you been sleeping?"
I couldn't tell her about my recurring nightmares.
I felt weird enough already. I just didn't want them to think of me in a bad way or look at me differently if I would have.
I'm already the new girl.
"No. I-im fine" I stuttered and picked up my tray- kitty ears almost falling.
I went back over to the table and picked up my lunch bag, "I'll catch you guys later?"
Meredith stopped me for a second, "Are you coming by to the woods later for the annual Hangout?"
I shrugged my shoulder, "I don't know. What is it?"
Valerie then turned to us and spoke, "It's like a party type thing later tonight to grant thanks to the full moon. It's like a weird tradition. Everyone goes to the woods and just parties. There's a big bonfire too and at the end of the night we surround the fire and sing"
Gale smiled towards her, "It's pretty fun, you should come Jessica"
I smiled and Meredith spoke , "Maybe we can all go together"
I nodded and gave them my address, "See you guys then. I think I'm gonna hang in study hall for the rest of lunch. Bye"
They said their goodbyes and went on to their own conversations while I made my way hurriedly to the library.
I went onto the computer search engine and typed in Recurring Dreams.
Nothing came.
I then typed in Dreams and Their Meanings.
I did find some things, but none that related to what was going on with me. I then sparked up an idea and went onto the library website that helped you to navigate the different kinds of books inside of it.
Still finding nothing on what my dream would have meant or why it was happening, I became aggravated.
I went back onto the computer and searched up Nikolai.
I got everything from tv animations to movie stars. I knew none of them were who I could have possibly been dreaming about, so therefore I went on to raising my flag of defeat.
"What are you doing?" I jumped feeling that familiar presence from behind.
Vince.
I turned around and huffed towards him in frustration.
I wasn't in the mood.
"What do you want?" He narrowed his eyes at me.
"You're the one in my library. No one comes here during lunch" I furrowed my brows precisely remembering that one time I saw him eating lunch at the cafe.
"I eat there. I just don't stay" I nodded my head in understanding, "Now. Why are you here?"
"Because it's a free country" I defended not wanting to tell him about my recurring night-dreams. I called them that not yet understanding which one it was.
He rolled my chair over to the side with me still on it and looked through my history files.
I cringed.
How dare he?
"Nikolai" He whispered as if he knew exactly what I was searching for.
"May I please go back to my studies?" I spoke innocently.
He narrowed his eyes towards me, "What's this? Why are you looking up this crap?"
I straightened up, "Are you going to the Hangout later?"
I unsuccessfully tried to change the subject.
"Answer the question" he looked into my eyes and in that moment my mind just kept telling me to do what he said.
I refuse.
He smirked a little probably noticing my current struggle.
What's happening
"Answer me" he spoke slow and polite.
I nodded slowly and before I could even stop myself, I began to tell him every single detail about my dreams and Nikolai.
"Please don't tell anyone" I begged not understanding what just happened.
He averted his gaze and I took the longest breath that I could muster and narrowed my eyes in disbelief.
What the hell just happened?
"What are you?" I asked confused.
His expression mirrored mine, "What are you?"
