I walked home not being able to get Vince's words out of my head.
What are you?
Still, even now, I couldn't tell if he was just trying to reciprocate the question just to confuse me. It seemed like that though because right after he asked, he just left me in the library.
I didn't even get a grunt or goodbye. All I got was a retreating figure rushing out of the library.
That wasn't even the part that got me, it was the fact that once he had spoken those three words, my heart had dropped as if he'd discovered one of my most darkest secrets.
But why?
That, I don't know, but what I do know is that there was something going on with Vince and I had a feeling that it wasn't only just him.
I was determined to find out what was so odd about this town and why I kept having these weird dreams.
I crossed the usual mini-white-bridge towards my home when I saw a young girl about my age. She had on a school-girl uniform and cringed on the sidewalk practically hollering out in pain.
She was hurt.
Her body sat limp as she clutched onto the bleeding cut now growing just above her left knee. I ran towards her in an urgent manor.
"Are you okay?" I spoke aloud looking down towards her getting ready to bend down to her level.
She breathed heavily, "Yeah, I just-"
She looked up towards me and gasped a little before continuing, "I- I tripped over a rock. I-I'm so sorry"
I looked down and around at in confusion and sat beside her.
What rock?
"Come, let me help you to your feet"
She nodded.
"Is your house around here? Do you need help getting in?" I questioned getting her up and walking.
She nodded and led the way towards her small cottage at the end of the road. It was white and resembled a gingerbread house. It had green leaves embedding the outside of the window hinting that it was very old.
I felt as if I was in a familiar atmosphere as we got closer and closer.
We walked into her house which was way bigger than I had expected. The interior design was remarkable. The marble floors and tan walls were breathtaking.
The young girl gasped as she limped a little to her left side from my lack of attention, "Sorry"
I laughed a little and sat her onto her plush couch.
"Thank you so much. I thought I'd be out there for hours" she whispered swiping a piece of hair behind her ear.
I smiled, "No problem. I'm surprised no one else helped, I mean so many people pass these trails each day. Harsh town huh?"
She giggled, "You must be new. I'm Alexandria"
Her name seemed familiar but I shook off the feeling not wanting to creep her out after just being acquainted.
"Jessica. But my friends call me Jesse"
We shook hands and she showed me where her family kept the first-aid kit. I walked into her bathroom and walked right back out with her direction of course.
"Are you going to the hangout tonight?" I asked disinfecting the cut.
She looked down and shook her head, "No"
I furrowed my brows as she continued, "I'm not allowed. I'm banned"
"Nonsense. Come with me- it'll be fun" I pressed not wanting to ask why she was banned and/or excluded from tonight's festivities.
I may have sounded so creepy though because we had just met and I was being pushy, but I didn't care.
I adjusted my ears and smirked, "Will you come please?"
She smiled. "I'll have to ask mama. Thanks again Jessica for helping me with my leg."
I smiled towards her and felt a little warm inside knowing that I had helped, "No problem. Hopefully, I'll see you again tonight"
I placed a band-aid on top of her knee and made my way out the door.
I noticed that it got a little dim outside and shivered from the cold breeze.

Once I got home, I changed into some clothes for The Hangout tonight. I wanted to be presentable, but not too fancy. I also didn't want to look too casual either.
I ended up wearing a pencil skirt along with a matching crop top that went very well with my black combat boots. I guess you could say that I was going for more of a dark look tonight.
All black and some pretty ears. That'll give them something to look at.
My phone buzzed,
"Hey girlie" Madison squealed, "We're outside"
