Unforseen Destiny

CHAPTER I

ALEX

I woke up early to exercise. I needed to be fit. I jogged for a while and stopped to rest at the park.

I settled down on the only unoccupied bench, and I silently took in my environment.

It's early in the morning. Only those that come out for exercise could be seen hanging around the park. The park had a wonderful view of a lake, which complement it's environment. Just then, I spotted an ice cream van near me.

I went over to get one cone . I settled back on my bench, I tried to relax as I ate my ice cream, but the conversation I had with my mum kept replaying itself in my mind. I was so sick of it.

*Flash back*

' Hello son, how are you? '

' I'm fine mom. How's everyone and everything? '

' All is well. How's things at the company? I'm sure all is well. '

' Yes mom. You have a worthy son here. So anything mom, anything you want to say? '

' Yes my son. You know your father and I are already old. We expect to see our grandchildren soon. Son you are already 32! You are getting old. I want you to promise me you'll find a good wife before your next birthday. Promise me my son.'

' Yes mom. I promise. I'll try '

' I have your words, so I'm not worried any longer. How is the preparation for the interview coming? '

' It's going as planned mom. '

' Good to know. I don't want the same thing that happened to repeat itself. You know how much it cost us. '

' Yes mom, I understand. '

' Good luck my son, and take care of yourself . I love very much my son.'

' I love you too Mom, bye. '

*Flash back ends*

This topic in particular is really sensitive to me. Marriage! I tried to push it out of my mind. Suddenly, I realized I needed to find a new trustworthy secretary. As I recall what happened, I got goosebumps all over my body as the event replayed.

What was his name again?... Oh, I remember. He's name is Jack Rutherford. As I thought of the name, I was fuming with anger. I was so angry, I could do anything at that moment.

*Flash back*

' How could you do such a thing. As a matter of fact, you are my secretary and I trusted in every single way how could you betray me like this. What have I ever not done for you?'

' You haven't done anything. I just needed extra profit that really pays me '

' You are the highest paid as you are my secretary. I gave you everything you ever asked for without hesitation or questioning your request. What else do you want? '

' I don't want anything. All I know is that your design needs some advanced modification which I know you can't make happen. So I leaked them. No. I sold them to the appropriate person who stands a better chance. '

' How could you! Of all the people to send it to , you chose my rival. I have being working on the design for months. Just at the final moment for finishing touches you sold me idea out. All my efforts in vain. How dare you?!'

' At least you don't have another design to make up for your lose. I'll tell you the truth. There's no reason to keep it now. Your so called rival is my brother .

I got into your company to exploit and ruin it. Why would I help someone who is up against my brother? Blood is thicker than water. You know that right? So, all this while I worked here is to make you trust me and then I could execute my plan '

' Fine then, I hope you're happy. But I'm happy to inform you that we have another design in place. It's not like I doubted you at first. But I know it would be necessary one day.

Prevention is better than cure you know. The damage is already done. But at least amends can be made. It's high time you faced the consequences of your actions.'

' What are you going to do about it? You have no evidence to put up against me.'

' I do. Enjoy your stay here. I have an important meeting '

' You'll never get away with this. '

As I recalled the rest if the event, I was so annoyed. A design that took me months to do that requires a lot of perfection and time was leaked.

I was shocked and angry because I didn't expect it to be my secretary's doing. I was kind of relived on the other hand cause I always prepare another design in case of this type of event. All traitors were put to book. But the damage was already done .

His brother! We have been rivals since high school. I don't know he would go to this extent of stealing my design.

They paid for their deeds and that's enough to quench my anger. Such are the sad memories ever since I became the CEO of my dad's company.

I stood up to continue jogging. I was lost in thought and did not watch my way, and I suddenly bumped into someone.

It then occurred to me that it was a girl. She started to pick up her documents and I offered to help.

' Hey, didn't you watch were you were going?'

' I'm sorry, I was lost in thought'

' Watch were you head to next time or you might end up in trouble'

' Ok, noted. Shall I help?'

' No, you'll just worsen the situation. Just get out of my way '

She kept scolding me and I kept apologising. As she stood up and look me in the eyes, I was a little worried. Just as I thought she would pour her anger out, she fell silent.

The moment of silence was really awkward. Just then, I did a quick check out on her. She's perfect. Her body was perfect. It could fit into my hand easily.

Her eyes colour were beautiful and they kept beaming. She had the perfect curves and flat cute nose. Her hair is curly and black. It drops below her shoulder a little, it colour matches her skin tone.

I apologized and jogged away hurriedly before she could say anything. I was already late for work. But what happened worth my time. On regular basis I don't pay attention to women. But she seems... Different.

I think I found my perfect match but are we really destined for each other???
