"What was that about, dude?" Ezra asked as they watched the white SUV drive away from them.
"I don't know. But, something is drawing me to her." Cole explained. He could still feel the urge to be as close to her as possible. Cole could still smell her scent, driving him mad. He couldn't exactly pin point the smell, but he loved it. He wanted more of it.
"Drawing you to her? What does that even mean?" Cameron asked. Ezra made a face of disgust. It didn't make sense to him. Hell, it didn't make any sense to Cole either, but that was the best way to describe the pull he felt for her.
"I don't even know." Cole groaned. It was so difficult for him to understand it himself, there was no way it would make sense to anyone he tried to explain it to. But, he would try. "It's like a force, pushing me towards her. It only goes away when she is right next to me. It's hard to explain the feeling." Cole paused, searching for the right words. "It's like the feeling you get that tells you to go somewhere or do something, and then something really good or really bad happens. Kind of like a gut feeling." Cole tried, he really did try his hardest to make his best friends understand.
"Okay..." Ezra trailed off, looking to Cameron. Nothing Cole was saying made any sense. Well it did, Ezra sort of understood the feeling that Cole was trying to explain, but not in this scenario. It was like talking about going hunting at a fancy vegan dinner party. Rude, inappropriate, and just the wrong place to talk about something like that.
Cameron just shook his head, it made no sense to him either. He was trying so hard to understand it for his best friend, but he had never heard of anything like this before.
Cole dropped his head. So maybe he hadn't explained it the best, but there was no easy way to convey the feelings he already felt for that girl. He let out a frustrated groan.
"You know when you're young and you're parents told you about how you would know the perfect girl at the Choosing Ceremony? You would be drawn to her almost, but in the end it was up to you if you chose her or not?" Cole stopped, waiting on a response. When the two nodded, he continued. "It's like that, but without the choice of saying no to her. Like, I can never walk away from her willingly. The pull to her is so strong that I have no clue how I'm still standing here talking to y'all, and not chasing her down and never letting her go."
Cole looked pretty worked up over the whole situation. His muscles were tight, tense, like he was ready for a fight any second. There was a thin layer of sweat cover his brow, and his eyes were bright and fevered looking. It was a bit of an unsettling sight to see their Alpha to-be so worked up over this.
Cole was normally a pretty chill guy. He avoided fights, unless they were necessary, and everyone who ever met him, loved him. So, to see him like this was a bit concerning for both Ezra and Cameron. Maybe it was time to head back home, and get some insight from the Alpha, and some of the elder pack members. They might now something about what Cole was going through.
Cameron pulled his phone out, and dialed Tristian. After explaining that they needed to head back to town, done with the list of errands or not, Ruth and Tristian agreed to meet them at the car. Whatever they didn't get to pick up today, someone would make a trip back into town for it a bit closer to the choosing ceremony.
Back at the car, the three boys waited patiently in the running car for the two warriors to get there.
"Think your Dad will know what's going on?" Cameron questioned. Out of the three best friends, he was the quietest and most serious at all times. Cole had his moments of seriousness when it came down to the pack, but he spent a lot of time joking with Ezra. The biggest jokester of the group had to be Ezra, with his constant joking and pranks. In the end though, all three of them took their pack duties extremely seriously.
"Honestly? I hope so, but I don't think he will." Cole paused, looking at each of his friends before continuing. "This is something he would have explained to me if he knew anything about it."
"True," Cameron shrugged, as the two warriors opened the doors.
"Sorry about having to leave before we were done, but there was a bit of an emergency." Cole explained as Ruth and Tristian climbed into the car. The group of five began the seemingly endless ride back to pack territory.
"It's not a problem. There wasn't an issue with the pack, was there?" Tristian questioned as he expertly maneuvered the car into the flow of traffic.
"No. More of a personal emergency of sorts," Cole glanced over his shoulder at his best friends. He didn't feel that the warriors needed to know all of the dirty details of the reason for their sudden departure. Somethings didn't have to be shared with the entirety pack to protect them. Ever good leader knew that.
For the most part, the remainder of the ride was in silence. However, there was a certain tense atmosphere in the car that made it obvious something was wrong. Yet, no one spoke up about it.
At the pack house, everyone began unpacking the car, while the three younger wolves headed to find the Alpha. They had some serious questions that they needed answers to. Now.
