Chapter 2

*** Dylan’s POV *** * “It seems like he is getting worse.” Sera said with a worried expression on her face while she was still looking towards the door where Damien walked out and I just nodded my head with a sigh. Mason went to change Aiden’s clothes after Damien stormed out of the apartment and I followed my sister into the kitchen. “Yeah. I am thinking about going and looking for our mate because he is seriously getting on my nerves sometimes.” I told her while I rolled my eyes. I wouldn’t mind finding our mate, but I know that she would come around anyway. Maybe she hasn’t even turned eighteen yet, but it looks like Damien is totally desperate to find her. Me, on the other hand, I wouldn’t mind some more freedom. “Be patient with him, Dylan. You know how it is when your wolf is sad and pushing you to do something. Damien’s wolf wants to be with his mate more than yours do, so he is dealing with it harder than you do.” She said and I know she was right. ‘I want to be with mate too,’ Boris said, and I let out a sigh. ‘Don’t start you too. We will meet her soon.’ I told him. ‘No, we need to go and look for her. She is already of age, I can feel it, just like Connor does.’ He said and I furrowed my eyebrows in confusion. This was the first time he told me that. “Yeah, you are right, but maybe he is right too and we should really look for her.” I said and she smiled at me. I can’t even believe that I said that. It’s all Boris’s fault. “Here is this box of cookies. Take it to the office and help them with the paperwork, Dylan.” She said, or more like ordered, and I rolled my eyes at her. “You know that I am the Alpha of this pack, right?” I asked her playfully as I took the box from her hands. “Yes, I know that, but then you should act like that. Don’t you think?” She said pointedly and I let out a sigh. I know I didn’t take my alpha duties as seriously as I should have, but it’s all about paperwork, which I am not quite good at. “I will… I am going to help them.” I told her with a sigh as I stood up. She always managed to get me to do things I didn’t want to. “Take care.” I pressed a kiss onto her forehead. “Alright.” She said and I said goodbye to Mason and Aiden before heading to the office. I wasn’t in the mood for office work, but they were constantly nagging me about it. “The Alpha arrived.” Dad said sarcastically while he shook his head disappointedly when I went into the office. “Sera sent you cookies.” I put the box on the table and sat down by my desk to start working. They just looked at me strangely. I guess they didn’t expect me to actually help. Luckily, they didn’t say anything to tease me, they just continued working, but I didn't miss the small smile on their faces. We were in the office until it was dark and I decided it was enough for today. I rubbed my tired eyes and looked at Damien. “Bro, let’s go to visit a few packs next week.” I told him and he turned to face me faster than the lighting on the sky on a stormy day. “What? Really?” He asked with wide open eyes. Dad was just looking at us with a smile on his face. “Yeah, it’s time to find her, but don’t be disappointed if we can’t find her right away.” I said and he nodded his head excitedly while he was grinning like an id*ot. I don’t even know when was the last time he was this happy. “Of course,” he said, while he couldn’t stop smiling. It filled me with warmth to finally see him like that, but Jacob’s mind-link cut my thoughts off. ‘Dylan. Remember I told you about my friend from Dark Moon pack?’ He asked. The Dark Moon pack was our neighbouring pack and they were our allies too. The Alpha of that pack was my parents' childhood friend, Alpha Jeremy. ‘Yeah, I remember. What was her name again? Tammy?’ I asked him as I remembered he was talking about a girl he was friends with from that pack. ‘Her name is Tory. She said she and her friend are going to have a fight tonight in the city and I want to watch it. Come with me?’ He asked and I let out a sigh. ‘I don’t know J. I am pretty tired. We just finished in the office.’ I told him. ‘Come on, dude. Don’t you want to see pretty chicks fighting with each other?’ He asked and I let out a sigh once again because that was really tempting. ‘Alright. I will be downstairs in ten minutes.’ I said and cut the link. “Are you heading out?” Damien asked and I nodded my head. “Yeah, wanna come?” I asked him but he shook his head right away. “No, I think I will go to bed early.” He said with a smile. I know he was thinking about next week already and it made me feel good that I managed to make him happy, even if I had mixed feelings about finding our mate. What if she was clingy? I hate clingy girls, but at least then I can let Damien have more alone-time with her. “Alright. Good night then.” I told them as I stood up from my chair. “Night,” Damien said. “Good night, son.” Dad replied and I left the office and went home to freshen up and change. When I was done, I headed downstairs to see Jacob already waiting for me on the couch. “Let’s go.” I said, and we sat in the car I shared with Damien and drove towards the city. I didn’t really like to go amongst humans if it wasn’t necessary, but I couldn’t miss a girls’ fight. Also, I wasn’t keen on the idea of letting Jacob go there alone. We pulled up in front of a building that looked old and abandoned, but the loud music that burst out of it made it alive. “What is this place?” I asked Jacob when we got out of the car and looked around. We were in the middle of the busy city in a dirty alley where no humans in their right mind would come after dark. “It’s called the Black Hole. An illegal fighting club.” He answered and I nodded my head in understanding. “That’s a fitting name,” I said with a chuckle as we headed towards the building. There was a huge metal door with a small window on it and Jacob knocked on the window. It opened and a deep voice called out to us. “Password?” He asked. “Is this the way to hell?” Jacob asked and I looked at him, wanted to ask what he was talking about, but the metal door opened in the next second. I guess that was the password. “It is.” The guy said as we walked in and then we got the pictures of the voice. He was a huge bulky man with muscles all over. He looked strong, but I wasn’t afraid of him, not even a bit. I know whatever we find in this club, it will be nothing compared to us. We were werewolves , and I was an Alpha at that and they were just humans. It doesn’t matter how good fighters they were or how muscular they were. “Thanks, man.” Jacob thanked the man and we walked through two doors before finding ourselves in a huge hall with screaming people as they were watching the fight between two girls in the ring, in the middle of the hall. “Cool.” Jacob said and I agreed with him, but the place was a bit too loud for my sensitive hearing. “Let’s go a bit closer.” He said, but the crowd was too thick to move, so we stayed and tried to get a good angle to watch the show. “Look, that’s Tory.” She pointed at one of the fighters and I nodded my head. I wasn’t impressed since she was fighting against a human. As a werewolf, it wasn’t fair even if they didn't use their wolf's strength, but they earned extra money like that, so who was I to judge them? The girl called Tory came out as the winner and I wasn’t surprised at all. Then the announcer called two other girls for the next fight. “Look, that’s Tory’s friend, Imogen.” Jacob pointed at the girl who walked up to the stage. She looked confident and strong, but then again, she was a werewolf as well, so that wasn’t a surprise. Both of them looked pretty, but I wasn’t impressed with the she-wolves' looks anymore, since werewolves all looked good, mostly. I noticed Boris suddenly got excited and I didn’t know what was going on. I asked him what got into him, but he was quiet. Then the announcer called another girl in the ring, whose name I couldn’t catch, but I didn’t even care, to be honest. I knew who the winner would be if the other girl was a human anyway, so I started to get bored, until… ‘MATE.’ Boris growled in my head excitedly. “What the f*ck?” I asked in disbelief as I looked at the girl who had just walked up the stage. She had dark blonde hair, which was in a ponytail. Her tanned skin was shining in the lights of the hall and her face was angelic. “What’s wrong?” Jacob asked in confusion. “She is a human.” I just said in disbelief. “Yeah, I know it’s not fair, but they don’t know that the girl is a werewolf, so who cares?” Jacob said, but I wasn’t really paying attention to him as I couldn’t take my eyes off of the beauty in the front of us. She had a perfect body with a round ass and breasts. I felt excited and I wanted to go to her and claim her right away, but I was upset too at the same time. She was a freaking human. Our mate was a human. We would be the laughing stocks in the supernatural world for having a weak human as a mate for the two of us and we would have a target on our forehead with a sign 'Come and challenge us'. “Let’s go.” I told Jacob. I wanted to get away from there. My head was full of thoughts about how humiliating it would be if we took her home. Also, how would I explain this to Damien? “What? We just got here. At least let me talk to Tory before we go.” He said, but I didn’t want to stay for another minute as I knew what would happen next and I didn’t want to watch. “NO.” I yelled, using my Alpha tone, and he looked at me in disbelief while people around us turned to look, so I grabbed his arm and pulled him along with me. ‘What is it?’ He asked through our mind-link. He knew something was wrong with me since I had never used my Alpha tone on him, but I didn’t say anything. I was just trying to concentrate on getting out of there as soon as possible. I let out my breath that I didn’t notice I was holding when we stepped out into the fresh air and I sat into the car right away. Her scent was intoxicating. “What’s going on, Dylan? Talk to me.” He asked and I let out a sigh before I turned to face him. ‘Dylan? Everything is okay?’ Before I could talk, I heard Damien’s voice in my head. Sh*t. He felt my anxiety. ‘Yeah, everything is good. We are watching a girls’ fight and it’s quite exciting, that’s all.’ I said and I heard him let out a chuckle before he cut the link. “She is our mate,” I told Jacob, and his eyes widened. “That’s cool, man. Damien would be over the moon. Imogen is pretty and, as I heard from Tory, she is a badass.” He said and the uneasy feeling was just stronger than before. He thought I was talking about the werewolf girl. Should I tell him I was talking about the other girl? Then he would know that we had a human for a mate and the whole pack would be disappointed to hear that they had a human for a Luna. “Wait, what did you say?” I asked him when his words registered in my head. “I said she is a cool girl, a badass.” He repeated and I was out of the car in the next moment and running back to the place. “Password?” The guy by the door asked again and it was hard to hold myself back from breaking down the door. Boris pushed me to go and protect our mate from the werewolf girl before she got beaten, so it wasn’t easy to control him. “Is this the way to hell?” I said. I wasn’t quite sure if I remembered well, but he opened the door, so I hurried inside. When I looked at the stage anxiously, I stopped in my tracks in disbelief. The announcer lifted one of her hands into the air to announce her victory and I couldn’t believe my eyes. That Imogen girl was lying on the ground unconscious while the human girl was standing as the winner. ‘Mate is so strong.’ Boris said in awe and I agreed with him. She actually won the fight against a werewolf… that was impressive. In what… three minutes? “What got into you, man?” Jacob asked when he caught up with me. “Nothing. Let’s go.” I said and turned on my heels to go back to the car. I just wanted to see if she was okay, so we could go back home. Damien would kill me if something happened to her and I didn't try to stop it. “What?” He asked in confusion. “Listen Jacob. Please don’t tell anyone about this, especially not Damien. I will tell him myself when the time comes.” I told him and he nodded his head, still confused. “Okay.” He said and I started the car and drove back to the packhouse furiously. A human for a mate, huh? Is that a f*cking joke?
