Beneath the Almond Tree

Chapter 10 :BENEATH THE ALMOND TREE (AGAIN)

One year later, the village prepares for another harvest festival. The tree stood strong, adorned in full bloom.

Elena watched the beauty of the day from the kitchen window, steam rising from the teacup in her hand. The almond tree was in bloom again-soft white blossoms fluttering like snowflakes in the spring light. Its branches, once empty, now danced gently with life.

It had bloomed every spring for the past one year.

She still remembered the way Luca had walked up the hill-tired from the world, weathered by mistakes, but with that glimmer of hope in his eyes that refused to dim.He had stood beneath the tree, soaked from the rain, and made a quiet promise. Not just with words-but with the way he looked at her, like she was his beginning and end.

And she had believed him.

Not because she was naive, but because he came when he mattered the most.

Now their life together was filled with the soft, golden light of ordinary love-the kind that didn’t burn like wildfire, but smoldered like an ember that never went out.

“My heartbeat,”came Luca’s voice from the garden.

Elena smiled and stepped outside with her protruding stomach, shielding her eyes from the morning sun.

It was finally time for the harvest festival.

Her grandmother had recovered from the illness which almost took her life, but due to the love and attention Elena showered her,she got better and stronger.

The whole villagers went to the village square ,including her grandmother.

Elena and Luca , were so happy to be privileged by the universe,to be able to see another harvest festival together, not just as lovers, but as a couple.

It was a different experience together as a couple, with promises made to each other, that was fulfilled.

Beneath the almond tree,Elena and Luca exchanged vows again in front of friends, family and curious children who asked if the tree truly had magic.

They smiled.

Maybe it did. Or maybe love, when nurtured, blooms again-just like almond blossoms in spring.

They lived happily ever after.
