Chapter 2

Grey's POV “Leave her alone!” yelled Daniel. I groaned in frustration. Mason chuckled darkly and dropped me roughly on the ground. I rubbed my knees to give them a little relief since I had landed on them. “Or else what?” Mason taunted “I'll beat you up” Daniel answered casually. I laughed quietly at his word. I was the one who wanted saving, yet I was the one silently mocking him. It was hilarious because, Mason weighed a lot more than Daniel probably weighed. “I'll like to see you try”. I became slightly worried. I knew I didn't want to be punished or rather, bullied by Mason but, I didn't want someone getting hurt in the process. I'd rather be bullied. I mean, it wouldn't be the first, so I could probably take it. Daniel signalled for Mason to make the first move and I withdrew. I didn't want a fight because of me. “Stop it.” I yelled as I stood up using the lockers as support. Over the noise, they didn't hear me. I noticed that Daniel had the upper hand. I never thought that would even be possible. I saw Daniel kick Mason and he hit the wall hard. My eyes widened and I felt fear suddenly wrap around me like a cloak. I stepped back and ran towards my locker. I leaned against my locker and tried to catch my breath. Who was Daniel? Someone of his size shouldn't be able to beat up Mason. I tried not to think about it and get all the things that I needed from my locker. I tried to stuff everything into my school bag. I was fidgeting do much that some books fell down. I bent down and I hit my head on the door of my locker. I groaned as another set of books fell. I was getting frustrated. I bent down again to pick up my books. This time, someone crouched with me to pick the books. I silently wished it wouldn't be Daniel but the universe must have been against my me because his green eyes were shining brightly at me. I stared at him for a while and began to admire his features. Daniel was obviously taller than me. I'm a 5'4 and he was probably a 6'1. He had fiery red hair, tanned skin and toned muscles. I noticeably relaxed. Daniel cleared his throat loudly. I blushed embarrassed. I saw my novel in his hands and pointed it. He looked at it and smiled, handing it over. “Into werewolves eh?” Daniel spoke up. “I'm also into werewolves, in fact I have fangs, see?” He pointed at his teeth and I raised an eyebrow in disbelief. I couldn't believe how much his canines reminded me of that of a wolf. I hummed in response and stood up carefully, so as not to hit the locker door again. “Thank you very much”, I said closing my locker. Daniel nodded, winked and walked away. I zipped my bag and went to the cafeteria. I glanced at my phone screen and sighed. I only had seven minutes till the end of lunch. ***** I sluggishly dragged myself into my house. I was exhausted and I just wanted to sleep. I heard the TV making sounds and concluded that the twins were home, especially with the animated voices I was hearing. I walked up the stairs and headed to my brother's office. My brother's a web designer. He worked at home because the twins were in his custody. I entered without knocking as usual. "Hey bro.” I said sitting on the edge of his desk “Rain”, he acknowledged my presence whilst glancing at his laptop screen. He never called me Grey. He was the only one I knew who called me by my middle name. “My day was great, I'm going to sleep now, ok?” He glanced up smiling and nodded. I returned the smile and walked out. I entered my room and laid down on my bed. I fell asleep shortly after. Several hours after... I sat up, gasping loudly. It was the same dream again. In the dream; I was running in the woods with a young girl. The girl was probably seven. I didn't know what I was running from but I knew it was a situation of life and death. The young girl let out a whimper which made me feel overwhelmed suddenly. I reached the end of the woods, to reveal a cliff. I looked down to see how my landing would be. It was looking like death or death. I gave the girl a worried look. I heard a sudden snarl behind me and I jumped out of impulse. I looked down and I knew I had made the wrong decision. A huge wolf was below waiting to devour us. Sweat rolled down my body in waterfalls. I swung my legs to the side of my bed. I glanced at my bedside clock. It read 8:43pm. My sisters were obviously asleep because the house was quiet. I stood up and went to the kitchen to get some water to drink. I picked up a water bottle from the refrigerator and took a swig from it. My parched throat hungered for more, so I drank more to satisfy my thirst. I peeked into the pantry and spotted a few bags of potato chips. I grabbed one family size pack. I tore a huge hole at the top and dug into it. I stared blankly as I chewed. To get rid of my boredom, I went back to my room with a juice box and the pack of potato chips I opened. I sat at my table and picked up my phone. I put on the Wi-Fi. I saw a lot of notifications come in from i********: and I curiously opened them. I stared in shock at the story that May had released. I knew fully well that tomorrow was going to be a really long ride through hell. And I started boiling over the fact that I was once again blamed for something I didn't do, just because I wasn't cool and popular. Knowing fully well that I could do little or nothing about it, I went back to my bed and covered my body with my duvet, my head in my pillow and I just let the tears fall.
