"What did you just say?" Zamond narrowed his eyes dangerously and clamped his slim well-proportioned fingers on her chin.
It was as though he would crush her jawbone if she gave him the wrong answer or repeated those words.
There was no sign of ardor on Zamond's face whatsoever.
He looked as if he were not the one who'd had s*x with her moments ago.
What a heartless guy.
Evianne's lip curled. She suddenly stuck out her tongue, gave his finger a lick and blinked her limpid eyes.
"I don't dare. I'm sorry. You're well-endowed, Mr. Tanke, and I could hardly withstand your lovemaking. Surely you can tolerate a few harsh words of mine?"
She's showing weakness and at the same time currying favor with me.
How very smart she is.
Zamond's thin lips curved in a thin smile. He let go of her.
But the moment he released his hold, she flung her arms around his.
Completely naked, she pressed herself against him, lifted her face and asked, "You're not mad anymore, right?"
Zamond gazed at her well-featured face. There was a charming gleam in her eyes.
"Yeah."
"Great. Let's go and grab a bite. I'm hungry."
"Okay."
Zamond had two meetings in the afternoon. The s*x they'd had in the lounge had cost him half of his lunch break, so he decided to have lunch in the fast food restaurant on the ground floor of the Tanke group's office building.
Two combo platters were soon served.
Evianne was having chili lasagna. Though eating in nibbles, she was filling her mouth very quickly. Zamond couldn't help but stop to watch her eating.
She was enjoying the food with obvious relish.
Evianne swallowed a mouthful of lasagna and lifted her head to look at him. "What's the matter?"
With bits of lasagna sticking to the corners of her mouth and an artless look on her face, she looked entirely different than the girl she had been when boldly flirting with him.
Zamond wondered what her true colors were like.
He reached out his hand and removed the bits of lasagna from her mouth. "How does it taste?"
"I've had better." Evianne took a sip of water and shrugged. "What can you expect from Fast food?"
"You were gobbling."
"That's because I'm hungry. I didn't eat anything in the morning, and you got on top of me and…" Evianne broke off in mid-sentence and flushed. "Do I look ugly when eating?"
Her tone of voice was tentative. She seemed to be eager to hear his answer.
Zamond unhurriedly poked at the food in his plate with a spoon. "No."
"Oh, I'm glad to hear that."
"You look very ugly."
"!"
Evianne's eyes widened with annoyance.
Zamond's lips curled in a smile of enjoyment. He urged, "Well, finish your food."
Evianne gave a snort and sulkily finished her remaining chili lasagna one spoonful after another.
After lunch, they walked out of the fast food restaurant.
Zamond flipped his wrist to reveal his watch, glanced at it and said, "I need to get back. You—"
Evianne thoughtfully interrupted him, "If you're busy, I can go back on my own."
She was implying that she wanted him to give her a ride.
Unfortunately for her, Zamond actually agreed with a nod, "Alright."
Then he turned around and left.
He just… turned around and walked off.
Evianne watched incredulously as he walked away without a backward glance. She stood transfixed with disbelief for quite a while.
Consumed with anger, she gave her waist a pinch, feeling on the verge of fainting.
This guy… This guy is… This guy's unbelievable!
Evianne stamped her foot and angrily headed in the opposite direction.
She got into her Maserati in front of the office building of the Tanke group. She needed to pay a visit to her parents.
Forging an alliance with the Tanke family was great news for her father. She couldn't think of a single reason why she should keep it from him.
And Silure's jaw will drop when she hears this.
The very thought of that excited Evianne.
Evianne hadn't reached the door of the living room yet when she heard Silure's gross simpering laughter coming from inside.
That geezer is at his advanced age now, but he's still so lecherous. He'll die on that b***h's bed sooner or later unless he learns to restrain himself.
Evianne's mind was wandering when she suddenly saw someone walk over.
"Evianne."
It was Nancy, a servant who had worked for the Moone family for over 20 years. She had watched Evianne grow up.
Evianne was closer to Nancy than she was to her father.
"Nancy." Evianne affectionately entwined her arm around Nancy's and said with a cutesy voice, "I want to have fillet steak for dinner."
"No problem. I'll cook you fillet steak."
"You're the best, Nancy!" Evianne kissed Nancy, released her arm and walked into the living room.
On the sofa, Silure was reclining in Hyber's arms. At the sight of Evianne, her face darkened.
Hyber promptly snapped, "You little piece of s**t! Why did you come back?!"
Evianne smilingly crossed her arms over her chest with a lift of her brows. "Oh, I'm sorry. I came back at a bad time. I ruined your romantic moment."
Silure's face paled slightly at Evianne's words. Holding Hyber's arm, she sobbed, "Hubby, look how mean she is."
"You heartless beast!" Hyber's eyes widened with rage. He pointed at Evianne and thundered, "Get out! Get out of my sight, you shameless creature!"
"Take it easy. I will leave after saying what I should say." Evianne unhurriedly walked up to the sofa and sat down.
Hyber snorted wheezingly, "Save it! I don't want to hear you say anything! Get lost!"
"Hyber, I suggest you calm down and hear me out. I promise it's worth hearing." Evianne's confident tone made Hyber a little curious.
Silure gave a sneer and looked at Evianne contemptuously, "What is it that you want to say? The Janson family has broken off the engagement. Your dad is very angry about it. Are you trying to antagonize him further?"
This loathsome b***h!
I've only just calmed Hyber down a little, and now this b***h is working him up.
Unsurprisingly, Hyber, after being reminded by Silure, recalled that the Janson family had broken off the engagement.
The thought of that sent his anger rising again.
"You seedy creature! You're an utter disgrace to this family! Get out, you ungrateful little s**t! I don't want to hear you say anything! Get out of my house!"
With that he grabbed a cup from the coffee table and hurled it at Evianne.
Evianne had become quite adept at dodging cups over the years.
She tilted her head, dodging the cup, and rose to her feet. "Listen carefully, old man and… Ms. Sole. Zamond and I are getting married."
Hyber and Silure both froze at her words.
After quite a while, Silure recovered herself first and said in a voice heavy with disbelief, "Who did you just say you're getting married with?"
Evianne looked very smug. Her rosy lips parted as she said slowly, "Zamond. I'm marrying Zamond Tanke. The Moone and the Tanke families are going to be united by our marriage. What do you think, Hyber?"
Hyber was at a loss what to say.
He swallowed hard and frowned. "The Tanke family? Are you serious?"
Before Evianne could reply, Silure blurted, "It's definitely a lie! Honey, there's no way Zamond is going to marry her. Evianne, stop lying."
Hyber's frown deepened at Silure's words. "You're lying to me?"
Evianne sneered, "Tomorrow night. Fontin Restaurant. Go there and you'll know if it's a lie or not."
"Why should I go there?"
"To talk about my marriage, of course," Evianne replied, turning around to leave.
When Evianne reached the front door, Nancy caught up with her and asked, "Evianne, what about the fillet steak?"
Evianne blinked her eyes. "Box them for me, please, Nancy."
