Adelie POV
I pace restlessly in the living room. It's almost midnight, and Asher is not home yet, nor pick up my calls. I'm not worried about him, but Cynthia. I can't possibly be fine, knowing that my best friend is with my despicable brother at this hour of the night, right? What if he does something crazy to Cynthia? What if he forces himself on her? I won't ever forgive myself, knowing that I pushed him to do this, just to please my innocent friend.
Slumping on the couch, I dial his number for the umpteenth time, and as expected, he didn't answer the call.
