Lily's POV
Three days felt like forever.
I checked my email almost every hour, heart racing with every new notification. But none of them were from the Kingsley Empire. Now it's the fourth day, and still–nothing. Maybe I’m not meant to work there after all. Still, I couldn’t stop thinking–what do I do now? Where do I go? Where else can I find a job? How?
Maybe people were right–maybe I really am nothing and will be nothing. Will I have to continue my mom's job? Because I'm tired. I’ve tried everything. I’ve done my best. And I didn’t just leave the rest–I gave it my all. So what more is left?
My mom’s health was hanging by a thread. The hospital wanted us out. Sleep had become a luxury I couldn't afford. Hope was slipping through my fingers like sand.
