Chapter 8

As the voice echoed in Lena's mind, anger coursed through her veins like a raging river. She started suspecting that there must actually be more to it since they had refused to let her go. I must leave this place as soon as possible before anyone can find out. She concluded in her mind. She carefully packed her belongings and held them tightly to her chest. Her heart was beating fast like a pounding drum. She carefully and quietly turned the knob, and the door eased open. The slight sound of the door made her heart race as she tiptoed, glancing to her right and left to ensure no one was around, and to her relief, the coast was clear. After a few minutes of finding her way to the exit of the infirmary, she heaved a sigh of relief. Wow, at last I'm totally free from these bastards. She muttered to herself. She couldn’t believe she could finally escape their clutches after all their manipulations and control. She turned back slowly for a few seconds and took a look once again at the building and the environment; a soft, triumphant smile escaped her lips. “I survived you all, bastards. She whispered, her voice soft but firm. “And you’ll never meet me again.” The words didn’t echo—they cut through the air like a blade. As she turned slowly to use the exit door, she suddenly stopped, her eyes widened with shock and her heart raced— it was the Alpha Triplet. She thought she had finally escaped and was free from their evil bond forever, but here she was again in their presence. Even though her legs became weak, she couldn't run. The triplets’ eyes gleamed with cold satisfaction. They thought she had already taken to her heels when the guards informed them that she was trying to escape. “Aurora, you don't have to run. "We can just settle this amicably and not end up as enemies,” Soren said in a soft, subtle voice. “We will make sure we provide everything you need. We are ready to do or give you whatever you want. A home, power, protection, fame, money – just name it. "Even gold,” Soren added. Ronan's eyes searched hers, revealing both anxiety and anticipation. Oh, I hope Aurora will give a favorable response, or else I won't have a choice but to force her to stay. The triplet became tense as she kept on staring at them for a few minutes before giving her response. “I don't want anything!” She spat. Her eyes are fierce and unyielding, flickering from one brother to another. “I will never accept you as my mate. I'm still standing by my words, and nothing can ever change.” Their hope became shattered. What else could they have done that they haven't done? Is this how they will become mad for the rest of their lives? Many thoughts drifted through their minds as their wolves kept warning them of the impending danger. “So what do you want us to do?” Kieran asked, frustrated. “Well, all I want right now is for us to go to the temple and break the curse. I want the mark gone; I want the bond severed. That is all I want right now,” her tone laced with contempt. Kieran exchanged a tense glance with Soren, but it was Ronan who exploded first. He slammed his fist into the stone pillar beside him, the echo cracking through the hall. “Enough!” he roared. “Kael, bring her. Now!” Kael stepped forward, ready to do as instructed, but Kieran's loud scream halted him. What are you doing? Must everything be carried out with force! We can just ….” Ronan cut in, ” We can just do what? All our efforts to persuade her have proved abortive. Since she is not ready to accept willingly, then she would accept by force. "You can all go and kick against this, then we will all go mad as the Moon Goddess prophesied it.” When Soren and Kieran heard the word ‘mad’, their faces went blank and became eerily silent. Kael stepped forward, his eyes dimming with guilt as he approached Lena. “Forgive me,” he whispered. “Just… hold still.” “No,” she hissed, backing away. “Don’t touch me!” But she was no match for Kael’s strength. He held her wrists gently but firmly, lifting her into his arms despite her struggles. Lena screamed, ” Put me down, you bastard! "What the hell do you want from me?” She cursed and kicked Kael, but he didn’t flinch. He carried her gently, as if she were both precious and dangerously unpredictable. Kael held Lena’s arms with a firm grip. Ronan stood nearby, his face angry and tense. Soren and Kieran looked back and forth between them, clearly worried. “ Put her down and let her walk.” Soren ordered Kael. The guards pushed Lena to move, and she walked slowly, her legs sticking, feeling reluctant to move. The mansion's doors swung open. She was led up a staircase, the soft carpet muffling her footsteps. A door creaked open, and she was ushered inside. The room was big and bright, with beautiful chandeliers; soft golden light came in through tall windows covered with long, silky curtains, making the room feel cozy. There was a large bed with a headboard that looked fancy, almost like something out of a fairy tale. A beautiful painting hung on the wall, and everything smells slightly like fresh flowers. As Lena stood, still looking around the room in bewilderment, she suddenly heard Ronan's voice, “She must not go away. "The guards must be alert and fully awakened,” Ronan told Kael, his voice low but commanding. Two guards stood posted outside at all times. Their eyes never left the door. On hearing Ronan's words, Lena became curious; she realized they needed her desperately for something, but what could it be? What on earth could have been their plan? She became worried and afraid as so many thoughts crowded through her mind. A few minutes later, there was a knock at the door. This made her more scared, then, instantly, she grabbed a paring knife on the table behind her for defense in case anyone wanted to hurt her. Her pulse calmed as she saw a lady entering with a tray in her hands. She wore a short blue gown with her hair packed beautifully. She is in her mid-twenties, one of the pack's maids. When she entered, she bowed, “ I have been directed to bring your food, ma'am,” gently putting the tray on the table beside the window. “Food? I don't want any damn food. Get me out of this place right away!” Lena's voice pierced the room like a blade. And she pushed the tray away; the plate flew across the room, crashing against the wall. The maid got scared and stepped back, but Lena didn’t stop. She looked around, eyes landing on the jug of water beside the bed. Smash. The water spilt across the floor, soaking the rug. Her hands moved quickly, grabbing anything within reach—books, vases, picture frames—and flinging them in every direction like a storm out of control. “You think you can trap me in silk sheets and fine furniture?” she shouted, her voice breaking. You can keep your gold and chandeliers. I want my freedom!” One of the guards flinched outside the door as a loud crash echoed through the walls. Immediately, he went to inform Ronan about the damaging sound he was hearing from the room. In a moment, Ronan pushed the door open and suddenly stopped. Kael, right behind him, froze too. The room was a wreck. It looked like a storm had hit it. Ronan's mouth fell open. His eyes went wide, darting from one broken thing to another; his hand clenched at his side, trembling just a little. “Get me out of here right now! Because if you don't, I won't mind pulling down the whole building.” Ronan didn't flinch. He turned to Kael and the maid, ”Just make sure she eats and stays alive, but she can destroy everything.” Ronan simply instructed Kael and went away. Kael bowed and said, “You can’t be set free unless you accept the triplets as your mates. That’s the only way things can improve for all of you.” Lena's eyes widened slightly, her eyebrows arched; curiosity had taken hold of her entire being. She wondered why they were all hell-bent on keeping her. Several thoughts crossed her mind, but she was determined to find out. However, she reached a plan. I will pretend like I'm alright with everything. I will seduce them, get them to trust me and destroy them when they are relaxed. “Well, I don't think this is a good idea,” her wolf warned her. ”Why should we deceive our mates?” But she shut7 her up and echoed, "The Blackthorne triplets shall burn." Hahaha— she laughed like a maniac.
