VICTOR WOKE UP AT 7:30 when another nurse came into his ICU reserve to check his blood pressure and fever. When he laid eyes on her, his pupils dilated, pleased with what he saw.
‘This one’s a beauty, all right,’ the man in him smiled, his interest aroused.
Then, she opened her mouth, and he winced. The beauty’s voice reached very high notes, and it was grating on his already strained nerves.
“We’re all right this morning, eh?” she said cheerfully, and Victor felt like stuffing something into her mouth to shut her up.
She checked his fever and his blood pressure, but her mouth didn’t shut up for one second. A headache started pounding in his head with a vengeance.
