SLEEP WAS LIKE A LOVE affair for Axel. There were days when he couldn’t get enough of it and days when he couldn’t run away of his bed fast enough.
That day, he had succumbed to slumber in the wee hours of the morning and he was still blissfully asleep when the front desk called and told him that some police officers were there asking for him.
He scowled and rubbed his eyes. He slid his tongue over his teeth and grimaced.
He pictured the round face of the woman with catlike eyes. He felt threatened somewhat by her and he knew that he had strong reasons for that.
He had sensed something from her that morning when the police were at the crime scene. Her abilities hadn’t been very clear at the time, yet he had known that he had to remove himself from her proximity.
