The next morning is a blur of activity, a surreal whirlwind which rages like a stormy ocean all around me. I have to pinch myself a few times throughout the morning, hardly able to believe that this is the big day. This is it. Today is my wedding day. A day most women dream about since they were little girls - but how many of those little girls imagine that their special day will take place on a mysterious tropical island, under threat of certain death, surrounded by strangers and enemies? There’s a final dress fitting at the c***k of dawn, followed by hours of hair and makeup. The sun is high in the midday sky by the time I’m standing before a full-length mirror in my suite’s dressing room, admiring the handiwork of a half a dozen makeup artists, manicurists, hairdressers and a stylist.
