Kairo's POV
The moment I stepped inside the mansion, I headed straight to my room.
That woman was unbelievably annoying.
She had only been my bodyguard for a few hours, yet she was already acting like she had the right to order me around.
I threw myself onto my bed, closed my eyes, and before I knew it, I had fallen asleep.
When I woke up, it was already six o'clock in the evening.
Without wasting any time, I took a quick shower and changed into my favorite racing outfit—a black leather jacket, gloves, dark jeans, and riding boots.
Tonight wasn't just another night.
Tonight was race night.
After dinner, I grabbed the keys to my motorcycle and quietly made my way toward the front door.
Just as I was about to leave, the housekeeper called after me.
Aling Lena:
"Young Master Kairo."
I stopped but didn't turn around.
"Your father asked me to remind you not to go out late at night."
I let out a small scoff.
"As if I'd listen."
Ignoring her warning, I walked straight to the garage.
My motorcycle was already waiting for me.
The moment I started the engine, the familiar roar echoed through the garage.
A smile slowly appeared on my face.
This...
This was freedom.
Without looking back, I sped out of the mansion.
People often asked why I loved street racing so much.
The answer was simple.
It was the only place where I could forget everything.
The pressure.
The expectations.
The loneliness.
Growing up, my parents were always busy managing the family business.
Business meetings.
International trips.
Endless responsibilities.
They rarely had time for me.
The only person who was always there was my older brother...
King.
Despite being the heir to the Montes Empire and the leader of Black Shot, he somehow still found time to look after me.
He wasn't affectionate.
He wasn't gentle.
But he always protected me.
Even so...
I was still afraid of him.
Whenever King looked at someone with those cold, emotionless eyes, even the bravest people would lower their heads.
Including me.
After nearly thirty minutes of riding, I finally arrived at the underground racing circuit.
The place was already packed.
Modified sports cars.
Powerful motorcycles.
Cheering crowds.
The smell of burning rubber filled the air.
This was where I truly felt alive.
As I parked my bike, someone stepped forward with a confident smile.
It was tonight's opponent.
Zack Angels Rodriguez.
One of the sons of the powerful Rodriguez family.
He crossed his arms and smirked.
"I hope you're ready to lose, Montes."
I smirked back.
"We'll see about that."
The crowd erupted into cheers as the race officials explained the rules.
Three rounds.
Whoever won two rounds would be declared the champion.
The loser would forfeit the entire bet and accept whatever punishment the organizers decided.
I put on my helmet and climbed onto my motorcycle.
My heart pounded with excitement.
The countdown began.
Three...
Two...
One...
The race had begun.
The engines roared as the starting lights turned green.
I twisted the throttle and shot forward, my motorcycle slicing through the night like a bullet.
The first lap was neck and neck.
Zack stayed close behind me, refusing to give me any breathing room.
As we approached the final corner, he overtook me with a perfectly timed drift.
The crowd erupted into cheers.
Round One...
I lost.
I removed my helmet and took a deep breath.
"Damn it."
Zack walked past me with a smug grin.
"Is that all you've got, Montes?"
I ignored him and climbed back onto my bike.
The second round began.
This time, I refused to make the same mistake.
Every turn was smoother.
Every acceleration was more precise.
When we crossed the finish line, I was half a bike ahead of him.
The crowd exploded with excitement.
Round Two...
I won.
Now everything came down to the final race.
Winner takes all.
I tightened my grip on the handlebars.
My heartbeat echoed inside my helmet.
One last race.
One last chance.
The signal was given.
We launched forward at full speed.
Neither of us wanted to lose.
The race remained close until the final stretch.
Then...
My rear tire lost traction for a split second.
It was enough.
Zack crossed the finish line before I did.
Silence.
I had lost.
Slowly, I removed my helmet and stepped off my motorcycle.
Losing wasn't what hurt the most.
What happened next was far worse.
Someone pushed through the crowd.
It was Alexa.
Relief washed over me for a moment.
I thought she had come to comfort me.
Instead...
She walked straight past me.
Without hesitation, she wrapped her arms around Zack.
A bright smile spread across her face.
"Babe!" she exclaimed happily.
"You were amazing!"
Everything around me seemed to stop.
I stared at them in disbelief.
Alexa...
My girlfriend.
The woman I loved.
The person I trusted more than anyone.
She was standing in front of me...
Smiling at another man.
I slowly clenched my fists.
"What does this mean?"
Alexa looked at me without a trace of guilt.
Then...
She laughed.
"It was all part of my mission, Kairo."
Before I could react, she stood on her tiptoes and kissed Zack right in front of me.
Something inside me shattered.
Every emotion I had been suppressing exploded all at once.
Without thinking, I charged toward Zack.
My fist slammed into his face.
He stumbled backward before quickly recovering.
"You'll regret that!"
He swung at me.
I dodged and threw another punch.
Within seconds, the entire racetrack descended into chaos.
My friends rushed in to help me.
Zack's men joined the fight.
Punches flew from every direction.
No one tried to stop us.
No one even wanted to.
The crowd backed away, watching the brawl unfold.
The air was filled with shouting, anger, and the sound of fists colliding.
None of us noticed...
That someone had been silently watching everything from the shadows.
And none of us realized...
That it was the same woman who had picked me up from school earlier that day.
