Chapter 8

Stella jumped out of bed as quickly as she could, her pulse beating rapidly. She didn't realize she'd done something she'd never done in her entire life until she went to put on a robe, at which point she realized she'd fallen asleep on top of the bed while still wearing her clothes. She had difficulty falling or staying asleep. She was too overburdened by the responsibilities to take even a momentary break from keeping a watch on the infant. She had lain on top of the bed and kept both doors open so that she might hear any disturbances; nevertheless, at some point in time, tiredness had plainly triumphed over concern, and she had fallen asleep. As a direct consequence of this, her clean black slacks were no longer pristine, her businesslike shirt was crumpled, and the clip that was supposed to control her hair had become dislodged. However, it was not her physical appearance that caused her concern. “A man?” She slipped her feet into her shoes, which were comfy flats that she had purchased specifically for the purpose of navigating the street and the metro. "Did he see you? Is he the only one of his kind, or are there a great number of them?" "I observed him while I was in my bedroom. The person holding the camera is not the culprit. Stella experienced an instantaneous pang of remorse as she observed the young girl's wide-open and terrified eyes. She was expected to exhibit composure and dependability. A figure who can act as a father, rather than a hysterical bundle of energy She looked down at the childlike eyes of green and marveled. A golden mane, tousled and coiled like the hair of a princess from a fairy tale. Get me out of here! He won't be the one to do it. He is unaware that any of us are present. There is no need to worry about anything at all. She spoke the words without feeling them, and she did her best not to think about how they wouldn't be there if everything were going according to plan. "Hide in the bedroom. I'll take care of it." "Why do I feel the need to conceal myself?" "Because I have to know who it is," she replied. They were running late since they had to catch the last ferry from the mainland. The cottage was located on the opposite side of the island, tucked away in a secluded corner of Shell Bay. A secluded spot on the beach. A refuge from the stresses of everyday life. Except for the fact that she was the one who had brought the pressures with her. Nobody should be aware that they were even in this location. She toyed with the idea of peeking out the window through those flimsy romantic drapes that had no place in a life as practical as hers, but she ultimately came to the conclusion that doing so would arouse suspicion. Stella pulled open the heavy door of the cottage, grabbed her phone, and got herself ready to draw blood if it became necessary. As soon as the door was open, she immediately caught a whiff of the ocean. Both the briny, revivifying quality of the air and her first glance of their guest threw her off balance at the same time. To say that he was eye-catching would have been something of an understatement. Instantaneously, she was able to identify the type. His masculinity was deeply embedded in his DNA, and his strength and attractiveness on the outside were both part of nature's design to ensure that the earth would continue to support human life. The running shoes, black sweat pants, and soft T-shirt proclaimed him to be the outdoor type, capable of dealing with whatever physical challenge the elements presented, but she knew that it wouldn't have mattered if he were naked or dressed in a killer suit if he would have done what he wanted to her. The factual situation was unaffected by the apparel. The truth of the matter was that he was the kind of man who could persuade an intelligent woman to act in an irrational manner. She found herself thinking about leo who had a strong conviction that men should cultivate their own sense of femininity. As his gaze swept over her in an unapologetically male evaluation, she found herself thinking about Leo . This man lacked any sort of feminine characteristics or traits. He dominated her with both his height and the width of his shoulders as he stood in the doorway of the room. He was all pumped up muscle and hard strength. His chin was covered in thick stubble, and the sweat that formed on his neck as a result of his vigorous exercise made it shine. Leo would not have shown his face in public unshaven under any circumstances, not even if he had been threatened with torture. She began to feel something peculiar all over her body, and it quickly spread to her skin. "Could there be a problem?" She had the ability to provide a response to her own query. There were a lot of things that were done incorrectly, and that's before we even started to evaluate her bodily reaction. Only a few hours after she had arrived, a mysterious person was standing at her door, which could only mean one thing for certain. They were able to locate her. She had received a head's up about the media. The reporters were like rain beating down on the roof. They discovered every fissure and every area of vulnerability. But how did they accomplish it in such a short amount of time? Anna had received reassurances from the authorities and the attorneys managing her legal matters that no one was aware of her existence. The strategy had been to remain silent about it and hope that nobody would notice. "You beat me to it! I was just about to ask you that." He had a low, deep drawl in his voice that was an excellent complement to the man. "You appear to be in the midst of a panic attack. Things move at a snail's pace, for the most part, here. On Kiribati Island, there does not appear to be much of a panic. Was he from around here? She never in a million years would have imagined that a man like him could be content with living on a small island by himself. Despite the fact that he was dressed in casual clothes, he exuded an air of refinement that suggested he had a life experience that went well beyond the confines of the Georgia coast. His eyes were very sharp and intelligent, and his dark hair was ruffled by the wind. &n bsp; Before looking over her shoulder, he seemed to be making a decision about something as he regarded her for a short while before shifting his focus. She instinctually pulled the door to the side, somewhat obstructing his line of sight, in the vain hope that Judith would remain hidden from him. She would have laughed if she hadn't felt so queasy at the time. Was this how she planned to spend the rest of her life?
