The smile on Adrian's face froze.
He watched as Violet gently leaned in and carefully blew the speck out of Ethan's eye.
Then Ethan straightened up with an easy grin. "There we go. Knew you could fix it."
Violet shot him a look. "You made that up just to mess with me, didn't you?"
"As if I'd dare." Ethan blinked innocently. "You're way too smart for that."
If anyone else acted like that, it would've come across as cheesy. But Ethan was ridiculously good-looking. When he teased her like that, it looked less like joking and more like effortless flirting.
The thought startled Violet. She quickly looked away, refusing to meet his eyes. Not wanting to continue the conversation, she turned to leave.
"Violet!" Adrian suddenly called after her.
