Mermaid Friends

One day at after school cheer practice, Elphador met some new friends that were obsessed with mermaids. Elphador began to love mermaids after spending time with her friends. Every Saturday, Elphador would go to the park with her friends to pretend they had magical mermaid powers. Then Elphador and her friends would go to cheerleading. After cheerleading, they would go shopping to get mermaid stuff from the mall. Then Elphador went home one of her friends told her that we’re about to quit cheer, and we want you to quit with us. So that we can all go to gymnastics together. Elphador asked them, “Why? I thought you girls loved cheer.” Her friends said, “We do love cheer, but we don’t even know how to do cartwheels.” “Elpha please quit cheer, so that we can go to gymnastics.” So Elphador told her mom about what her friends said, then Elphador’s mom signed her up for gymnastics. Gymnastics went well for Elphador’s friends, but not for her. Elphador wanted to quit gymnastics, after she couldn’t stand on the higher beams. She fell every time on the beams. Then Elphador quit gymnastics and she stopped being friends with the girls from her cheer team, because she realized that mermaids were not real. Mermaids, fairies, and aliens are not real, they were just make belief to Elphador’s thoughts. Then she stopped believing in Santa Clause. Elphador’s aunt told her that Santa Clause was God. Oh, didn’t Elphador wish that was true.
