IDRYSSI'S POV
My name is Idryssi. I was orphaned at just 11 months old, no support - but the question was, how did I survive? That has been a mystery to me ever since I knew how to speak. But one thing I knew for a fact was that I wasn't normal. Everytime when I wondered into the forest in my teenage years- the forest was my nextdoor neighbor, searching for wild berries, I was always attracted to the smell of blood from the nearby wild animals which viewed me as prey- don't get me wrong, the smell was enticing. It was like perceiving your favorite ice cream scup, I'd black out and upon waking up, find myself back in my shack with a full belly and blood stained clothes- blood which I had no idea where it came from.
One day, on one of my rare visits to town, I stumbled upon a poster from a wealthy family seeking a maid. On seeing it, my eyes twinkled like a kid seeing candy for the first time, and I grabbed it quickly like the last slice of cake from my favorite bakery for fear of it being snatched by someone else. After I confirmed no one would take it, I slowly opened it and checked the details. After brushing over it, I quickly spotted the address of the house and quickly sprinted there like my life depended on it. Guys let's be honest, I needed this money- I am a new adult and need basic and essential things like toiletries, clothes, and a phone. Did I tell you that I could speak to birds and good animals of the forest? I guess not. I know it's literally giving Cinderella and Snow White's vibe but I'm serious and to add to it, the water can heal me - no matter how serious or deep. Like ! am I Percy Jackson?and that alone just confirmed just how much of an outcast I am. Back to my story.
On arriving at my destination, I checked myself and arranged my crumpled dress- crumpled from the speed of my little race. When I looked at my legs which had blisters on it- because I had no footwear to put on, it felt strange not being able to feel pain no matter how bad it stings. After taking a few deep breaths, I braced myself and knocked on the iron gate. I waited for a few seconds after receiving silence from the other end and knocked again. This time I wasn't met with silence but with a warm smile from an old woman - whom I later knew as the head maid as she ushered me into the manor. After ushering me in she kindly asked if I was here for the job to which I answered meekly with a nod of my head. After quickly scanning me from head to toe, her eyes met my blistered foot and she let out a shriek saying "what in heaven's name happened to you, come, come, let me treat your blisters". She was the first person in this manor to treat me kindly.
