I was done pitching water now cooking our meal for dinner tonight. We have grind corn and some vegetables also some fish. As we eat all in the table together no one talk everyone was quite while eating. When everyone was done they all damp their dishes for me to wash.
Everything is manually washing by hands since we never owned a dishwasher machine. We can't afford that at all.
We don't have a toilet as well, we go to the woods and dumped whatever we have on our stomach.
If you wanna how we clean it, hmmm probably you don't wanna know, but we use husk of corn wet it with water and then wiped ourselves tadaaa...yeah that's my life in the mountains.
No electricity we use lamp light every night as our light. We never had television ? at all. We listened a radio for a drama from a station that Came on daily evening.
I was done washing dishes and clean up the table I'm glad that massaging thing for my dad is done. I'm tired from working making their food and cleaning but never got appreciated it.
I got up after listening one episode of the drama. I bid goodbye to them since it's weekend I would sleep at my grandmother house. I would help her pitching water also and she makes sweet sticky rice on banana leaves to sell every Sunday morning. So
Friday night I would stay over at her house so I can harvest banana leaves to wrap around the sweet sticky rice dessert. Every morning in the weekend My grandmother would make pure hot cocoa in the pot and eat that with left over rice as our breakfast.
Nothing else we and I would be happy just that. After pitching some banana leaves Saturday evening we cook the sweet sticky rice dessert to be prepared by early Sunday morning to cook them in a huge pot then we go down to the mountain to the river and sell them. Every Sunday they always had a little Fiesta where lot's of vendors sells their stuff to make money.
My grandmother offered me that if I help her we will divided the profit after the sells. We'll I was so excited and happy about it finally I can make little money while going to school.
My grandmother would get drunk from a coconut wine and I had to guide her going up to the mountain. And boy that takes forever to get home especially when she get drunk really bad, because she start crawling instead of walking.
I said to myself the Lord really give me challenges in my life at the age of 6 wow. Finally we got home after dark, we come home she start peeing standing and I was like oh my goodness. I just shake my head, I can't believe this my grandmother is good when she is sober.
I never told her that she peed herself while standing because I know what is going to happen.
Morning comes I said to my grandma hey grandma how much did we make for the sweet sticky rice. She never answered me and just ignored me, she didn't give me the half of the profit that we suppose to divide.
It never happened and I was crying, and didn't say anything I went home the next day Monday morning to prepare going to school.
Mom, Dad I'm home, oh hey honey how was your weekend with your grandma? Same thing I said, she use me and never give me half of the profits.
My dad shake his head, and just smile about it. Oh by the way it was my dad's mother.
Now I'm preparing myself going to school Monday morning. Another day of my life done cooking for the whole family, preparing my lunch wrap in banana leaves and add couple of dried fish as my meat.
Passing through my grandma house, hey grandma she act like she didn't hear me, so I said hey grandma second time and stand a little closer to her a bit hoping she will give me couple of coins for me to have so I can buy a little snacks but she didn't, all she said you be careful.
I wish my grandma sees my effort but she never did.
Well see you grandma byeee.... my head hang low but I had to keep my spirit up high no matter what!
