The lawyer pulled out a piece of paper and began to explain his fees. “Okay, I know this is a lot to take in, but I want to be upfront with you about my fees. I’ll be charging a flat rate of ₦500,000 for my services.” My sister’s eyes widened in shock. “₦500,000? That’s a lot of money!” The lawyer nodded. “I know it is, but I assure you, it’s worth it. I’ve been doing this for a long time, and I know how to get results. And besides, we’re not just talking about money here. We’re talking about justice for Oluwadamilare and making sure that Chief Adekola pays for what he’s done.” I nodded in agreement. “I think it’s worth it. Let’s do it.” My sister hesitated for a moment, then nodded as well. “Okay, let’s do it.” The lawyer gathered his papers, his eyes scanning the room to make sure he had everything he needed. “Well, I think that’s all for now. I’ll get started on the paperwork and begin preparing Dapo for his testimony.” He walked towards the door, his briefcase in hand. “I’ll be in touch soon to update you on our progress. And don’t worry, I’ll make sure Oluwadamilare is cleared of all charges.” My sister and I nodded, feeling a sense of relief wash over us. We thanked the lawyer and walked him to the door, watching as he got into his car and drove away. As we turned back to the house, my sister turned to me with a determined look on her face. “We’re going to get through this, together.”
