Talking of me, my brother and my sister
Tola is the eldest, stood tall at 38, her sharp features and angular jawline a testament to her strong will and determination. Despite being a single mother to Oluwadamilare, she had built a successful supermarket business and owned the family house, which she refused to sell. Her stubbornness had driven a wedge between her and Tunde and me, but she remained resolute.
Tunde, 34, was a towering figure, his massive frame and rugged good looks intimidating to some. His mysterious job in Ikorodu only added to his enigmatic persona, but one thing was certain – he was fiercely protective and would stop at nothing to defend his family when we were young. His aggressive nature and skill made him a force to be reckoned with.
I, 29, had a gentle soul and a passion for Computer Science, which I had studied in school. However, my creative side had led me to open a studio in Victoria Island, where I spent my days pursuing my love of art and music. My calm and empathetic nature often found me mediating between my siblings, but I struggled to assert myself in the face of their strong personalities.
As I settled into bed, I couldn’t help but think about how my siblings used to tease me when we were younger. Tola and Tunde would often call me “Last Born” or “Big Brother”, but deep down, I knew they respected me for being the voice of reason in our family. Even when our parents were alive, I was always the one to speak the truth, even if it meant telling my siblings when they were wrong. And somehow, that tradition had continued even into adulthood.
I remembered the countless times I had helped mediate their disputes, and how they would come to me for advice when they needed someone to talk to. It was a role I had grown accustomed to, and one that I took pride in.
As I drifted off to sleep, I knew that tomorrow would bring its own set of challenges, but I was ready to face them head-on. For my family, and for Oluwadamilare, I would do whatever it took to help them through this difficult time.
