Chapter fifty seven

1039 Words
Saving Vince Taylor pictured the Pack Hospital in her mind. Dale picked up the man off the floor. A few seconds later, we were all standing in the Pack Hospital. Doctors, I need your help, Pete rushed in. Vince? Vince, Sally grabbed Pete. Pete, I know you want to help him, but you need to let the other doctors handle this. Dale put him on the gurney. Dale walked over and laid him down. And they rushed out of the room with him. Sally, he’s my baby brother. I know Pete, that’s why I’m telling you to let them help him. Taylor walked over to Pete. She’s right, Pete. Right now, you’re too emotional. Vince needs someone with a clear mind. He sighed. Amelia walked over and hugged him. Pete started to cry, what if he doesn’t make it? He’s strong, says Sally. He’s made it this long. I don’t think he’ll give up now. The Consequences Izzy and the children all went back to the cabin and talked through everything they saw. Taylor sat and listened as they all said what they were feeling. Devin, Zack, and Liam all looked at Izzy. Izzy, you were the one affected the most by this. What do you think? She looked at Taylor, and he nodded at her. I think we all have suffered enough. Our parents were forced into a situation they had no control over. They have taken ownership of it. I think it’s time to put things in the past and see how it goes. What punishment could we give them that they haven’t already endured? They spent half of their life living without their mate and wolves. What could be worse than that? Leo, Luke , Evelyn, and Amy looked at Izzy. I think we would have to agree with you, Izzy. Devin, Zack, and Liam all nodded in agreement. I think there should have to be some kind of consequence for their actions, says Taylor. They all looked at him in disbelief. He laughed. Not like what you guys are thinking. They all sighed in relief. Family dinner every Sunday, no excuses, and they have to take one of you each week and do something with you. All separate. One-on-one time. Till you all work through whatever anger you’re still holding on to. Replied Taylor. They all smile. Honestly, I think that would help, says Leo. It would give us time to get to know them. Why don’t we go to the hospital and later, when Vince is doing better, then the Alpha and Luna can talk to them? Since it was his punishment technically, Zack grins. Izzy just laughs, “Why are you all pawning it off on us?” Well, are you not the Luna, and Taylor is the Alpha? Taylor chuckles, “Okay, I can see your point.” We all walk back to the hospital, and everyone is still sitting there waiting for the doctors to come back. Well, Alpha, what was the conclusion to our discussion?” Says Pete. “ Are you sure?” Says Taylor. “ Yes, why not? We all have time, and we are all here.” All of us have agreed and decided that your punishment will be starting this Sunday. They all looked stunned. “ Your punishment is as follows,” says Alpha Taylor, Family dinner every Sunday, no excuses. You each have to take one of the kids each week to do something with them. All separate. One-on-one time. Till you all work through all this mess. Draw names. I don’t care how you do it. They all smile. This is what your children want. I think that you owe them that. We owe them more than that, says Janie. I would all have to agree with that, says James, Pete, and Amelia. To new beginnings, says Izzy. Everyone starts hugging each other. Pete’s POV A few minutes later, the doctor walks out. “ Andy? How is he?” asks Pete. Surprisingly well. He’s responding to the medication, and so is his wolf. They starved him, so right now we are feeding him through iv and after a few days, we are going to try clear soups to see how he does. Can we see him? Right now, he’s sedated till he’s more stable. The nurses are cleaning him up and changing him. Why don’t you all go home for the night and let us work on him? It’s late. And I am sure you’re all exhausted. Can I at least see him before I go, asks Pete. I don’t see why not just make it fast. I walk into the room and see my little brother lying there hooked to all the machines and wires. He’s so thin you can see his bones. I’m so sorry, Vince. I promise you we will get him for what he’s done to you and our families, that I promise you. I walk over, giving him a kiss on the forehead, turning around and walking out the room. When I come out, everyone is still here waiting for me. Are you ready, asks Izzy? Yes, I am. Izzy walks over, holding her hand out for me to take. I look at her and pull her into a hug as tears slip down my face. I’m so sorry. She hugs me back. I know. Let’s go home, she says as she wipes the tear off my cheek. I hug her one last time before I hold her hand and walk out the door. I don’t know what I did to deserve your kindness, but I will make it up to you every day. I know, she says. To new beginnings and a brighter future. Says Amy. We all walk in silence the rest of the way to our cabin. Izzy and Taylor watched as we all went to our cabins while the boys went to the pack house. For the first time, I feel whole again. Maybe after all this hurt and pain, we will be able to heal. Amelia walks up behind me, kissing my neck and hugging me. I love you, she says softly. Turning around, I love you too, my love, pulling her to the shower.
