Chapter seventy six

1155 Words
It was back to business the next day. My grandmother went shopping with Taylor’s mom, something about helping renovate the new pack house at my uncle’s pack. My uncle’s wife had gone with them. Taylor, Tony, and my uncle had agreed that neither of the packs was accepting new pack members unless they were fated to a pack member. Otherwise, they were sent to neighboring packs. We knew we only had two more years before Malcolm found me. And our packs prepared every day. Devin brought my uncle’s beta, gamma, delta, and head warrior to train with us for a week. My uncle loved the new direction his pack was going. With Taylor’s help, my uncle was able to fix everything in his pack that needed to be fixed. His old pack house was renovated for his warriors. Which they all loved. The old warriors’ barracks was renovated to be the new workout facility. It was huge but well worth it. Taylor also purchased some land that was next to my uncle for him to expand,so they built more housing. In between our land and my uncle’s was just open land. Taylor, Tony, and my uncle decided to buy the land and build businesses there. They wanted to put in a mall and other personal businesses. It wasn’t on any of our pack land, so it was perfect for other packs so they could enjoy it too. They would make roads going into it so even humans could get to it, and all of our packs would have direct access to it. We all knew we were running out of time, but we decided to make the best of it. Focusing on the pack and making sure everyone was training who could train. Liam and Pete focused on the clinic while I stayed at the pack, working at the pack hospital or on my Luna duties to help Abby. Zack stayed close to Taylor at the pack house, while Devin stayed focused on training. Jarred and Tony worked in the corporate offices while Taylor decided he was only going to the office one day a week. The security on the pack lands seemed to get tighter each year. Devin and Abby are always coming up with something new. My uncle and Tony are both working with Taylor; their business has been great. Taylor got the businessman of the year. Yeah, who would have thought? Jarred and Daisy went to the event. While we stayed at the pack. Things were going great. And I hoped it was always like this. Taylor’s POV Jarred, would you stop that already! What am I doing? If you don’t stop, Sally is going to put you in the office. I thought this is what she wanted me to do. When did she say act like an i***t? I’m not trying too! I forgot; it just comes naturally for you. Taylor, how can you say that? Very easily. He’s lucky you’re saying it and not me, says Ry. Tell me about it! Hey! Taylor!! Focus shouts Sally as I get hit with a water ball that knocks me into a tree. Jarred starts laughing, and Izzy runs over and is trying to help me up with tears in her eyes. I’m so sorry, Taylor. I thought you were ready. It’s okay, my love, really I’m fine, as I throw a fire ball at Jarred, missing him thanks to Sally. He’s now up in his office. Where Sally put him, where he’s safe and sound away from me. Let’s call it a night, says Sally. Taylor, you’re not focused, and now with what happened, I know Izzy isn’t focused anymore. You can’t let Jarred make you lose focus. That’s the reason I asked him to try to make you lose your concentration. Which you did fast. Remember both of you, this pack is counting on you both to get this right. You’re right, Sally, it’s my fault. I just, I don’t know. Well, that I don’t know can get us all killed. Sally was so right, what was I thinking? You weren’t, that’s the problem, says Ry. I get it, Ry. You sure? Or does our mate have to feel bad every time she hits us with something? I said I got it! Blocking Ry out. Well, this didn’t go as I planned. I pull Izzy into my embrace and whisper, “I’m sorry.” She sighs and mumbles, “I thought I hurt you,” through her tears. No, my love, I’m fine. I just lost my focus. She hugs me tightly. I can’t do this without you, I know. I’m so sorry, baby, as I’m looking down at her wiping away her tears. Why don’t we go eat and then spend the rest of the evening watching movies together? She shakes her head. I take her hand and we both walk back to the pack house together. Sally, can you let Jarred out, please? Yeah, sure, see you both back at the pack house. I imagine we are both up in our room. And a few seconds later, we were. I look at Izzy, her eyes red and swollen from crying. It hurt knowing I did this. Why don’t you freshen up, and we can go down to eat? She shakes her head and walks into the bathroom. I sigh, what have I done? Not only did I hurt Izzy, I almost hurt my best friend. It’s all my fault. Izzy walks out and she looks much better. I walk up and pull her to me and kiss her lightly. I’m so sorry, my love, I have no excuse for what happened. She reaches up and puts her hand on my face. It’s okay, Taylor, as long as you’re not hurt. No, I’m not, but my pride is. That ball hit me good! I smile. She laughed; well, it teaches you right for not paying attention. I know, I said grinning. Let’s go eat. I’m starving as I pull her outta the room. We walk down stairs and it got quiet all of a sudden. Everyone was looking at us. I sigh and walk over to Jarred and pull him in a hug. Sorry, man, I had no intentions on hurting you. It’s all good. I knew you couldn’t resist my charm. Daisy smacks him in his arm, don’t you ever shut up? No wonder you almost became a crispy critter, and everyone starts laughing. As she smacks him again, he grins at his mate. I have to admit they are the perfect couple. Well, let’s eat. As we all take our places at the table, I could not have asked for a better family or mate. We spent the rest of the night watching movies with everyone and listening to Daisy and Jarred fight. It was heaven. This was home and it was perfect, just the way it was.
