Chapter eighty one

The masquerade ball.

Taylor and Izzy’s POV

We greeted all of our guests as they arrived, then we had them escorted to their tables.

Taylor spoke a few words, and then dinner began to be served. Afterward, once everyone had finished eating, the ball would commence.

Dinner went great. It was pleasant; everyone seemed to control themselves.

Well, it also helped that we put just one pack at each table to prevent arguments.

Most kept their masks on while eating. After dinner, the doors were opened to the ballroom.

It was done in black, white, and royal blue. Sally outdid herself. The room was gorgeous.

It looked like the room had floating candles all through it. You could hear the whispers about it from the other Alphas and Lunas.

White roses decorated all the tables. With black tablecloths and a floating candle on each one.

A massive dance floor was situated in the center of the room. The lights shimmered across the floor, creating an almost ethereal ambiance.

It was beautiful as people started to dance and enjoy the evening that had just started.

Alphas mingled, Lunas gossiped, and laughed amongst each other. It was the beginning to a wonderful evening ahead.

Our warriors waited; they were either at the pack house or the ball. There was no way anyone would take a step on our pack lands that didn’t belong there.

The pack lands were safe thanks to Sally and Izzy, and if anyone tried getting past it, Sally and Izzy would know immediately.

The evening was going well. Some people had found their mates, which we were genuinely happy for them.

A few of them were from our own packs. We would meet them tomorrow. For tonight, they would stay at the pack hotel.

I’m glad Sally made it where our pack members could find their mates. I would never want to take something that special from them.

As expected, around eleven, our security system was hacked. It’s starting, Boss, Devin mind-linked.

They shut down our main servers. We still have them on camera, right? Yes, Alpha, they never expected the second system.

The three that we thought would go missing are who they took. Alpha, they only took two, leaving the third.

He did have a long talk with one of the Alphas. I am assuming it was Cassius himself since we all wore masks.

He came with Alpha Rowen. Keep an eye on them; have the other ones tracked; see where they took them. Yes, Alpha.

Make sure no one expects anything. On it, boss.

Pete, you and Vince go talk to Alpha Rowen and the other man with him. If it’s Cassius, we want him to see you.

Be careful; it could be Cassius himself. You know what to do. On it, they both replied. After a few minutes, Vince verified it was Cassius.

Everyone make sure to stay with your mate and let us know if you have any issues or something is not right.

At midnight, most of the Alphas and their mates had gone back to the hotel and their packs, leaving the ball for the younger generation.

For those who found their mates, we had already had rooms waiting for them. Fifteen people found their mates tonight. I was happy for them.

Izzy and all the women all decided that they would return to our pack house, they would pick up their pack members.

Taking all the members through the portals back to their respective pack houses.

The event went exceptionally well. We watched as Cassius and Alpha Rowen tried to get on our pack land. After a while, they finally gave up after being caught for the third time.

Cassius POV

How in the hell did we get caught three times trying to get on their land! It was almost like they were waiting for us, said Alpha Rowen.

Let’s go home before they try to detain us for trespassing on their land. I am running out of excuses to give them.

Fine, we aren’t getting anywhere anyway. Even though we accessed their system, they still were able to stop us.

Give me one minute. I want to try to talk to Alpha Taylor. Rowen laughed. “You got some balls, Cassius.”

After trespassing three times, you want to talk to the Alpha? What can I say? Laughs, Cassius. “ I’m not afraid of Alpha Taylor.”

Who said anything about being afraid? Frowns, Rowen. “ Why do you want to poke the bear?”

Cassius laughed. “Isn’t that the reason we came in the first place, to poke the bear as you so elegantly put it?”

Good point. I’ll wait for you by the car. Fine, I will be there in a few minutes.

I walk up to Alpha Taylor’s beta. “Excuse me, I was hoping to talk to Alpha Taylor.”

I’m sorry, Sir. The Alpha is getting ready to leave. He can’t spare a few minutes to talk to me?

Sir, why would my Alpha spare time to someone who tried to enter his pack illegally three different times?

You’re lucky he hasn’t had you both arrested for trespassing.

Cassius laughs. “Fine, we will meet again. Next time, I won’t be so polite.”

Jarred seemed amused. “Don’t worry, we will be waiting. Then Jarred turns around and walks out.”

Warriors escort these two Alphas out and make sure they do not enter these premises again, yes, beta.

Rowan bows. “No need for all this. We are leaving. They both turn around and walk back to his car, getting in.”

Cassius, let’s go! Cassius gets in the car, and the car drives away. “ How dare you tell me what to do!”

Rowan laughs. “ I could have left you there. You get arrested, then you would have to show your hand before you’re even ready.”

Don’t fool yourself, Cassius. The only reason I am helping you is I wish not to feel your wrath later.

I am doing it for the good of my pack, for no other reason.

You still have to deal with Alpha Taylor, and he is not like the other Alphas. He is more powerful than all of us put together.
