After Dr. Sanchez had allowed me to see my mate, I stayed with her for an hour. My mind kept repeating the incidents of the night and my wolf kept blaming me for the misery we were in.
Only if we could have protected our mate, only if we could have agreed to her wishes earlier Leon kept whining.
I did not want to respond. I was already submerged in guilt and shame of being an Alpha who could not be there for his mate.
"I will always be there for you Lexia" I whispered, caressing the back of her hand.
"Alpha, you will have to leave now. She needs to have a good night's rest. So do you."
