Seventeen Warm. The liquid pouring down my throat was warm. It wasn’t just liquid, it was blood. The metallic scent wasn’t something I could miss. I was bleeding. Why didn’t it hurt? Was I too much in shock? Why didn’t my friends stop the Elder? Was the blood staining into my white gown? That would be a pain to clean. Oh well, that wouldn’t be my problem, because I’d be dead. At least it didn’t hurt. I hadn’t expected it to be painless. But then again, I also didn’t think it would take this long to die. I heard life would flash in front of me when it happened, but there was only darkness. Or maybe that was because my eyes were closed. My eyelids fluttered open, the light temporarily blinding me. Slowly, but surely, the world came back to me. White. Black. Red. Red? Blood? Elder K
