ALISON SIGNS THE CONTRACT Mr. Dre said to Alison, I'll leave you to think about it. I need your decision within 24 hours. Alison said what do you mean sir? Mr. Dre replied saying this contract (hands her a document) outlines the terms of our agreement. If you agree to the contract marriage, sign and return it to me by this time tomorrow. And if I..don't, Alison said tearfully. Mr. Dre turned and looked at her, he paused as he looked straight into her eyes, his expression unyielding. Let's just say I will not render financial assistance then. Alison nervously said I see. Mr. Dre stands up saying I'll leave you to consider your choice as he exits the office, leaving Alison alone with the contract. Alison said to herself, feeling confused and torn, What am I going to do? I need the money desperately, but marriage? It's a huge commitment. And to a man like Mr. Dre, who's only interested in his business empire... I'm not sure I can do this. She looks at the contract, her mind racing with pros and cons. Alison sighs ‘I have 24 hours to decide. But what if I say no? Will he still help me with the loan? And what if I say yes... Is it the right decision? She puts her hands on her cheeks thinking of what to do next. ‘Madam I believe your conversation with Mr Dre is over right’? Mr Dre's Pa said to Alison gently, trying to know what the problem could be as she was left in his office all alone. ‘Yeah, we are done with our conversation’, Alison said, trying to put a smile on her face. She left Mr Dre's office and went to her HR to get permission that she would be off for the day. She got to her HR office but there was no response. His Pa came out and told her that Mr William, her HR, went to the canteen for his break. Thank you very much ma, Alison said to the woman with smiles all over her face. She got to the canteen searching for Mr Wills and sighted him from afar. She walked to his table but found out that he and Mr. Dre were at the same table enjoying their break. Good Day, Mr William, Good Day Mr Dre. She greeted her HR, Mr William, and her Boss Mr Dre. ‘ Sir I went to your office earlier but your PA redirected me to the canteen.’ Alison said to her HR. Oh, am here Mrs. Alison what's the issue? Her HR asked, looking at her face, waiting to hear what she would say. Sir, I came to seek your permission that I will not be staying till the closing hours. Are you okay Alison? , Mr Dre said to her. You haven't been staying till closing hours these few days. Am okay sir I just had a personal appointment I needed to attend to. Alison said. A personal appointment but u haven't even stayed until 1 pm. Are you in trouble Alison? Speak to me I might be of help. Are you aware you haven't met your target for the month? And the month is almost over. I know I haven't met it but I will Alison said but she could not explain to Mr William what was going on. Leave her to go, she has a personal decision to make within the next 24 hours, Mr Dre said looking at her face. You can go then, the Boss has spoken. Mr William said to Alison. Alison hurriedly left the canteen and drove speedily to her house. Her eyes were like a dam that wanted to explode with water. She arrived at her house. ‘Good day ma, u are welcome’ the nanny greeted, but those words fell on the ground. Alison didn't reply she went into her room, shut the door and tears were falling like a heavy rain. She sobbed bitterly and was hurt. This made her remember her late husband and her tears increased but she encouraged herself, stood up, and asked the nanny to serve her food. Alison's phone rang, she turned and looked at the screen but It was an unsaved number. She picked up the call, but her voice wasn't audible due to how she cried a few hours ago. Good day, Mrs Alison, You are speaking to Cynthia the receptionist of ST Mary Hospital, I was directed by the doctor to inform you that tomorrow is the last day for the payment else madam we will move your daughter to the public ward. Cynthia said in a firm but sympathetic voice. Alison's hands shivered as she held the phone, her heart whirling with fear. Her eyes locked into the words contract marriage. "Please, Cynthia, don't move her to the public ward. I'll pay tomorrow. I'll pay, just please don't let anything happen to my daughter." "I have no option now but to sign the contract, my daughter is dying, she said as tears came down from her eyes. She quickly read the terms and conditions and decided that she could rescue her daughter. The next morning, Alison's heart raced as she walked into the office. She had barely slept, her mind was consumed by the weight of her decision. Mr. Dre looked up from his desk, his eyes cold and unforgiving. "Mrs Alison, how may I be of help to you”? Alison swallowed hard, her voice barely above a whisper. "Y-yes, Mr. Dre. I accept the contract." Mr. Dre's gaze seemed to pierce through her, his eyes lingering on her face. "Very well," he said finally. "I'll have my lawyer draw up the papers. But let me make one thing clear, Alison: once you sign, there's no backing out. You'll be mine, body and soul." Mr Dres's lawyer arrived and gave her some papers which she signed.
