At the Sunday lunch.

The alarm clock on my phone start beeping it’s ten thirty, in the morning. I’m slapping it, to make it stop. I stand up and walk to the bathroom. I grab a towel, take off my t shirt and get in the shower. The feeling of the water on my body it’s just refreshing. I jump out the shower and get to the closet. I wear fresh jeans, a t shirt, and my Vans shoes and went downstairs. I saw my mom sitting on the kitchen with my 6 year old brother Nick. “Morning mom, I’m going to Jace’s house. I will stay for lunch there, don’t wait for me.” I kiss her on the cheek and messed up my brother’s hair to tease him. “Good morning baby girl, say hi to Maris from me. When you came back I need to talk to you.” She said and kisses me on the forehead. Maris is the mother of Jace and Alice. She is at her forties, and successful lawyer, blonde curly hair, nice body, and nice sky blue eyes. That’s why Alice and Jace blue eyes and blonde hair. I get to the car, turn the radio on and enjoy the ride. Ten minutes later am at Jace’s house. It’s a nice house with big yard, and white fence.

Maris opens the door and smile at me. “Good morning Maris. How are you?” I said to her happily and hug her. “Good morning Andrea. I’ m fine thank you. How is school? ” She replied brightly. She closes the door behind me and walked to the kitchen to find the others. “Morning i***t and Alice” I hit Jace on his shoulder. “Morning” he says and nods. “You want some coffee?” Maris asks. “Yes please. You are a life saver Maris.” I said to her. “What happen at Friday night? Asshole!” Jace ask me. And Alice starts laughing at me. I think it’s about Cindy when she kisses me in front of them. “Nothing, I brought girls home.” I said and took a taste of my coffee. Feels good the morning coffee. “Let’s go to the backyard” Alice said and we walking behind her. Jace teases me and tickle me. “Idiots” Alice makes us laughing louder. We take a seat at the table and relaxing.

“So tell me what happen at the club with Mindy and the new girl.” Jace asks me. “Nothing dude, I just drive Cindy not ″Mindy‶ at her home and the new girl left with your sister.” I reply. He laughs when he realize that call her Mindy when he said goodbye to us that night. Alice keeps laughing at him. And look at me with her lifted brow. “You are lying.” She says. “I saw her before you two get in the car, Andrea! Don’t lie.” She continued and chuckles. “No, nothing happen, I just drove her home. Don’t call me a liar kid.” They both start laughing at me. Yes they are both idiots. But I can’t help it. I just smile at them.

“Ok, I believe you dude. I know you don’t messing around with random girls.” Jace said with a sneaky smile. “You are an Asshole.” I said to him. They know that I’m not a player. I don’t messing around with random girls just to get laid. That’s rumors at school. The girls measure me up and the guys don’t like me. When, I beat them at the Kickboxing. That isn’t my problem, what they think about me. Alice heard the rumors from Sandy, when I turned her down. Now she thinks I am a player.

“The lunch is ready!” Maris voice I think save me. We walked to the kitchen the table is full of food. We take our seats around the table. “So have you decided which college you will study when you finish high school, Andrea?” Maris asks me politely. “Not yet, I have applied to some colleges for scholarship but not all of them replied me yet.” I respond to her question. “Jace have been accepted to New Yorks University.” She told me and I look at Jace. “That’s awesome, man. They have a very good football team.” He just smiles and continued his food. A knock at the door get our attention. And Alice opened the door. Sandy and the redhead girl are standing there. “Come in girls, we just start having lunch. Join us.” Alice says and start hug and kiss them. They are walking towards to us.

Sandy sat next to Alice at my left, the redhead next to me at the right. “Hello, thanks for inviting us to the table.” The new girl says. Alice makes the introduction to her mom. And start talking with Sandy. “It’s my pleasure to meet you Rouz. It’s very nice to have you here.” Maris politely replied. She smells like roses and jasmine. Her red hair falls waverly on her shoulders. Her eyes are more beautiful now I am notice them. It’s green and grey at the frame. Her smile is amazing and her soft, flawless, caramel skin. “Where are you from Rouz?” Maris voice again gets my attention “I’m from Mexico. We just moved here with my parents, four days ago. I will finish high school here.” She answers to Maris smiley. She catches me, while I was staring at her. I almost choke with my water. Alice and Jace are laughing at me. Sandy just rolls her eyes to me.

 “Excuse me! I have to go to the bathroom.” I said and almost running upstairs when I was lost from their sight and closed the door behind me. My god! I am such an i***t. I have to pull myself together. I start dropping some cold water on my face. Come on Andrea, put yourself together. Thought to myself and got the towel. I opened the door and got downstairs. They are looking at me. “I’m fine” I said trying to get back to my seat next to her.

We finish our food. Maris starts cleaning the table. “I will clean the table Maris, you had cooked for us.” I said to Maris brightly and she smile back. I want something to distracting me from thinking of her. When Maris left the kitchen, I start cleaning the table. “Grab a beer and come to the backyard. Asshole!” Jace yell at me as he walked out of the kitchen. “Ok i***t” I keep cleaning.

“Can I help you with the cleaning?” I turned and split some water on her black t shirt. “Oh my God! I am so sorry.” I blushed in front of her and she starts laughing. “It’s ok, I think I deserved it for scared you.” She said and we start laughing. After a while we finish the cleaning. I gave her a beer from the fridge. We walked to the backyard to find the others. Sandy looked at me with unpleasant surprise. The others just smile to us. We take a seat next to them and giving glances to each other and laughing.

When I returned back home, I found myself smiling. My mom waited for me. “Andrea, can we talk?” She says, sitting on the couch in front of the flat screen. “Yes, mom what’s up?” I sit next to her. She was keeping an envelope to her hand. “What’s that?” I asked. “Well is a letter from your father. He wants you and you’re brother to visit him, for he’s wedding in two months.” She says, with a sad smile on her face. “Ok mom what is the problem, why are you sad?” I asked. “He wants you two, to meet his new family, he has two young boys and a baby is coming.” She told me. He starts a new family and a baby is coming. Why he didn’t tell something these years. I think my mom is sad because of the way, they divorced. He worked many hours and didn’t have time for his family. And now he is starts a new family. How is this possible? What has change? “It is ok mom, we will go.” I said to her. And she smiles me back. I get up get some soda from the fridge and went upstairs to my room…
