CHAPTER 13: Dance

Alexa's POV

Avery and I have been girlfriends now for 3 months. She been busy because of Music Festival, sometimes Im visiting her at her office, but I only stayed for about 2 hours because I had school and a part-time job.

Actually, today is the Music Festival, so Sammy dragged me here to the event. I texted Avie and I told her that I was here but she hasn't seen my message. She is probably busy checking if everything is perfect. It is only 5 PM and the performance later will start at 6 PM.

"Alexa! Let's go there!" Sam drags me to a booth where someone is selling a tteokbokki. We ate about 4 bowls of it, and we are now full.

"Where should we go next?"

"I don't know, let's just look around." I nodded.

We walked around the whole area and it was pretty big. A lot of people are here and they keep coming here for the event. Suddenly, someone put his arm on my shoulder.

"Lex, what's up?" Jason asked me.

"Ever heard of personal space?"

"Oh! I'm sorry. I didnt mean to do that. "

"It is fine."

"So guys, are you going to watch some performances?" Jake asked.

"Yeah," Sam answered, and I felt my phone vibrate.

Seahh is calling....

I excuse myself to my friends and answered the call

On The Phone

A: Hello?

C: Alex, where are you?

A: I'm here for the Music Festival event. Why?

C: Can you come here at the back?

A: Why?

C: The devil is mad and I need your help to calm her down.

A: Okay, I'll be there

The Call Ends

"What's wrong with Lex?" Sam asked me, and Jason and Jake looked at me.

"I need to go somewhere."

"Where? Do you want me to accompany you?"

"Yes"

"Guys, you go ahead first." Jason and Jakr nodded. We now started walking towards the back stage. "What's wrong?"

"Blair unnie needs some help"

"What kind of help?"

"Calm a person down"

"So, is this person your girl?"

"Yes she is," She just laughed. Sam knows about everything because she is my best friend and she shares her life with me too.

We arrived backstage and I saw a fuming Avie. She shouted at someone and even fired her. Blair unnie was trying to calm her down, but she couldn't do anything.

"Your girl is scary," Sam whispered to me.

"Not really"

"Are you just going to watch them first and wait for that staff member to get fired or are you going to stop her now?"

"Which one do you think I will do?"

"The second one", She slightly pushed me to go see Avery. "Go there, hurry and calm her." I nodded.

"Why did that happen? YOU ONLY HAD A SIMPLE JOB AND YOU DIDN'T EVEN DO IT RIGHT!! You're such a moron, an i***t, and a fool. GET OUT OF HERE, DONT f*****g SHOW ME YOUR FACES BECAUSE YOU ARE ALL FIRED!!! " Avie shouted at the 3 staff. It looked like they had a problem. Blair unnie signed me to stop her and I nodded.

"Avie," I whispered, and I hugged her behind. I feel her body relax. "Calm down"

"How can I?" She relaxed her back to my front and she held my arms that were hugging her waist.

"I assume you had a problem," I said. "What is it? Can you tell me what is the problem? "

"One performer got injured because she tripped on the wires, and it was the staff's fault because I told them to remove the wires on the stage."

"Did you hurt anyone physically?"

"Not yet"

"So, what are you going to do now?"

"Find another performer. I don't know."

"I think you should find it now because you only had 25 minutes left before the show."

"Madie, can you find another performer?"

"I'm sorry, Ms. Halston, but they are unable to memorize the choreography."

"Can I see it?" I asked Madie and she looked confused, "Can I see the choreography video?"

"Here, Ms. Smith." She handed me the ipad. Intentions is a song by Justin Bieber, pretty easy.

"I think I can do it," I told them. Avie pulled away from the back hug and turned to face me.

"What do you mean you can do it?" Avie asked me. Blair unnie, Madie, and Sam are also looking at me.

"I can dance it. It is pretty easy."

"You can dance Alex?" Blair unnie asked me.

"I don't know, but I already memorized the dance steps."

"You don't know how to dance but you memorize the dance steps in one watch?" Avie asked me and I nodded. "So, how are you supposed to dance if you don't know if you can dance?"

"There is a first time for everything, Avie."

"Allie, you know that this day is important, right?"

"Yeah, I'm aware Avie. Let me do this. I promise I won't mess up. Just let me," They looked at me and Avie was thinking.

"Ahmm, excuse me, Ms. Halston, but I think you should let her because she won't volunteer if she knows she'll mess up or ruin the event." Sammy stated. I saw Avie glaring at her and Sam is gulping.

"Avie, don't glare at her. She is my bestfriend." Avie smiled at her and Sammy looked stunned. "Now, Avie, let me do this."

"Fine, but be careful on stage, okay?" She looked at me worriedly.

"Yes, don't worry." She held my hand and caressed it, "So, should I change my outfit?"

"Yes, Ms. Smith, I will guide you to the dressing room."

"I'll come with you." Avie said

"Why?" I asked her.

"I want to see you"

"Nope you will not. You still have something to do and I know that."

"Bu-"

"No buts, go now. Blair unnie dragged her if she followed us. "

"Yah! Allie" Jenny is now protesting.

"I will see you later, Bear. Come with us." Sammy and Madie accompany us to the dressing room.

I change my outfit and I even wear a short cut in my hair. Actually, I dyed my hair black last week because I got tired of having blonde hair. So now I have short hair.

The event is now starting. The first three groups have finished performing. I already met the dancers that will be dancing with me later. It is now our turn.

"Ladies and Gentlemen!! Let's give it up for the dance trainees of HT Entertainment!!!!!"

-AFTER THE PERFORMANCE-

"WHAT IS YOUR NAME?!?!!"

"REVEAL YOUR NAME!!!!"

"Everyone calm down hahaha. We can ask her name." The MC said as he walked towards me, "Hello, young trainee."

"Hello!" He gave me a mic.

"As you can see, the audience liked your performance. Perhaps they have requested that you make your debut through entertainment. Can you tell us your name and age?"

"Oh! I'm Alexandra Smith, but you can just call me Alex or Alexa, and honestly, I'm not a trainee here. "

"Really?!?!"

"Yes, there is just a slight problem. That's why I am the one who performs here."

"Wow, you already have fans hahaha. Thank you for performing here today, Ms. Alexa." I bowed at him and to everyone else, and we left the stage.

"Can we take a picture?" I asked the dancers to join me. "For memories"

"Sure, why not?" One dancer said,

"Sam, can you take a picture of us?"

"Yeah sure." I handed her my camera and she took a photo of us.

"Thank you Alexa for performing with us." One dancer thanked me and all of them nodded.

"Its nothing hehe, see you guys when I waved my hands at them.

"SEE YOU!!" They shouted in sync.

"Lex you did fantastic out there," Sam said, "Was that your first time?"

"Yes, hahaha, it is actually fun."

"Yes it is, I think we should dance together next time."

"Yes we should."

We walked to the VIP part of the audience, where I saw Madie, Blair unnie, and Avie. We walked towards them.

"Wow! Alex, you are a natural dancer. I didn't think you can dance. " Blair unnie patted my shoulder.

"Ms. Smith, you did great out there." Madie also praised me.

"Madie unnie, just call me Alexa since you are older than me and drop the formalities. I feel old." She chuckled

"Okay Alexa", I smiled at her. I looked at Avie and she was not looking at me.

"Blair unnie, what is wrong with her?" I whispered to her.

"You dance with the male dancer and the audience likes you."

"She is jealous?"

"Yes she is. You know she is possessive. That's why." I nodded at her and I sat beside Avie.

"Did you like it?" I asked her and she was just watching the other performer. She is not looking at me. "Silent treatment? Did I do something wrong?" She is still not talking and is looking at me.

"Haysss, Avie, tell me what I did." She stole a glance at me and she kept ignoring me. "Fine, don't talk to me if you don't want to. Just talk to me if you are already calm." I stood up and sat down between Blair unnie and Sam.

"Blair unnie, this is Sammy, my best friend. Sam, this is Chelsea, a friend but also a sister."

"Hello unnie" Sam greeted her and offered a handshake.

"Hi Sammy" Blair unnie accepted her handshake. "How long have you two known each other?"

"6 years and keep counting." Bear answered.

"You sounded like a girlfriend." Blair unnie teased us.

"YUCK!! EW!! IT GROSS UNNIE/BLAIR UNNIE" We said it in sync. Madie and Blair unnie laughed. We watched the show and suddenly I saw someone familiar. It is Kiara.

"WOW!!!!"

"ITS AN ANGEL!!"

"YOU ARE PRETTY!!"

"NICE VOICE!!!"

"KIARA!!!!!" Blair unnie and I shouted together and we looked at each other. "KIARA YOU DID GREAT!!!!" We said again in sync.

"You know her?!?!" We said exclaimed together and we both nodded. "How?"

"A friend/Friend" We said again in sync.

"Guys, are your brains connected? You are talking in sync." Sam said.

"It was just a coincidence," Blair unnie said, and I nodded. I also saw Kiara was also here in the VIP seats.

"Kia!!" I shouted and she saw me. She ran towards me and she hugged me.

"Monkey, I miss you." She kissed my cheek. "Did you receive the books that I gave you?"

"So it's from you? Why didn't you tell me? You didn't have to do that, you know. "

"But I wanted to... hahaha I want to have a doctor friend."

"By the way, thank you."

"You are welcome, Monkey."

"I want you to meet someone chipmunk." I pulled her a bit, "This is Sammy, my best friend. That is Madie Unnie, a friend of mine, and I know you already know Chelsea Unnie."

"Nice to meet you, Sammy Kaehlerd and Madie unnie. I am Kiara Blythe Welton, but just call me Kiara." She bowed and said, "Nice to see you again, Chel unnie". I saw Blair unnie blushing.

"Blair unnie, you are blushing." I whispered to her.

"Its hot here, Lex," She denied. "Yeah, nice to see you, Kiara."

"Can I sit with you guys together?" Kiara asked.

"Of course" Blair unniee answered.

"But I have one companion. Can she also join us here?"

"Call her", Kiara nodded. Suddenly a small girl walked towards us.

"This is my friend Athena Seon." Kiara introduces her. We also introduced ourselves to her and we watched the show together.

Avie is still not talking to me. She has been ignoring me for 2 hours. We are now here in a food booth, and we ordered some food. We are sitting inside the big tent.

"Guys! After eating, let's watch the fireworks display, " Sam suggested, and we nodded.

"Sure!" Kiara answered her.

We finished eating and we started walking. I am walking beside Avie, even though she is not talking to me. We are just quiet while the others are talking. The others had already walked ahead, and we were left behind.

"Avie, are you still not going to talk to me? I already gave you a time to calm yourself." I held her hand and intertwined it. I pulled her under the tree. "Avie, could you tell me why you are ignoring me?"

"Avie, I know I'm dense on this kind of thing, but can you tell me?" I asked her calmly "You can shout here since there is no one around. Just tell me it's fine if you raise your tone. "

"Why did you dance with them?" She asked me seriously and her eyes were looking at me possessively

"Because you guys need a proxy and I'm volunteering because I want to help you."

"You dance with a group of men"

"So? They are kind and gentlemen."

"Not really, he just supported me. They even know when to distance themselves. We took a photo but they didnt come to me closer. "

"So you even took a picture with them?" She frowned and slightly raised her voice.

"Yes I am. I asked them for a memory because it was my first time dancing and I wanted to share it with my brother."

"Yeah, it's your first time dancing and the audience likes you," She stated.

"Really? Isn't that great? They liked the performance. "

"Your friend Kiara hugged you and kissed your cheek. You just let her do that. She even bought you a school book and you accepted it. "

"We are always like that, we are like sisters. Actually, I didnt know that she was the one who gave me those books. I accepted it because it was already delivered at home and I knew for sure she would be hurt at me if I gave it back to her. "

"You didn't even introduce me to them."

"Because Im giving you a space and I know for sure you will just nod or ignore them. Avie, I'm already your girlfriend, but why are you still jealous? "

"BECAUSE YOU ARE SO DENSE AND OBLIVIOUS HUMAN. People always come to you and they like you. I really hate you for being dumb in this relationship!!! If I do hold myself any longer, I'm going to kill everyone who gets near you!! You are the only thing I want!! MINE!!!" She shouted, and she continued.

"YOU HAVE 197 IQ BUT YOU ARE SO STUPID. I have no idea why I fell for you. If I could just stop these feelings, I already have!! Why is it so hard to love you?!?! AH! I'm the only one who is in love with this f*****g RELATIONSHIP AND YOU?! " She pointed her index finger at me.

"You don't LOVE OR LIKE ME, EVEN FIND ME ATTRACTIVE, YOU ARE BLIND!! I'm pretty, hot, sexy, rich, and powerful. I HAD ANYTHING THAT GIRLS AND BOYS WANT, BUT YOU STILL DIDN'T FIND ME ATTRACTIVE OR EVEN LUST ME. Who the f**k are you? You are the most illiterate, stupid, and oblivious person I have ever known. I THINK YOU ARE NOT EVEN A HUMAN YOU KNOW WHAT?! YOU ARE NOT NORMAL!!!!!"

It keeps ringing into my head. I remember my biological father, who disowned me because he thought I was a curse. He kept saying I was not normal, I was dumb, stupid, i***t, or a fool, and he kept calling me names. He even hurt me physically. I was only 4 at the time and I still remember the things he did to me.

I never had a nice family. My biological mom left us because my biological dad was always controlling our lives. My mom felt suffocated and one time my dad hurt my mom. That is why she left us. My dad blamed me because I didn't stop my mom. I just watched them fight, and I just watched my mom leave us.

My dad hid me. I know my mom would be coming back for me, but I don't. I never felt like I had a very nice, happy family. I never felt normal. People around me only used me because I had a very high IQ. My dad used my intelligence for gambling. In every game, I calculate all the moves that my dad is going to make, and he will ask me if we are going to win. I kept doing that till I was 6.

Maybe you are thinking how I got into the situation. It is because our house burned down. My dad left me there alone while the fire was burning in our house. He saved himself and left me. One day, I woke up in a hospital and after I was discharged, the police left me at the orphanage.

I just really want to live a normal life like a normal person. I want to receive love from my family, friends, and even a lover. I want to experience loving someone or feeling love.

Grandma is the one who teaches me things. She told me that I am a normal person. My intelligence is just a gift from God and not a curse. She told me to explore new things, that there was always a first time for everything and she didnt want me to regret anything. Grandma and Ashton treated me like a family member, and I loved that feeling. When Halmeoni died, the people who visited her burial asked me why I was not crying, and I told them I was not sad. They think of me that I am happy that she died. Actually, I am happy because she will not suffer more and I know she is in a wonderful place right now.

Ash is the only one left, and he still loves me like a family member, and I love him even though he is annoying. He is always upset if I am always reading books and imprisoning myself in the house. He wants me to socialize and live like a normal person. He does not want me to accelerate in school because he wants me to experience every grade level.

I just want to feel love without asking for something in return...
