CHAPTER 7: Gummy Smile

Avery's POV

I can't believe Alexa had dinner with us. She even made a deal so I could make her fall for me. She is still here at the mansion, playing chess with my dad. I looked at them and they were both serious.

"Sweetie, make sure you will make her fall for you, " Mom said, also looking at them.

"I will, I will make sure of that." I said confidently. All of a sudden, I heard them talking.

"Alexa, when did you start playing chess?" Dad inquired.

"Today" We looked stunned.

"Today? You mean this is your first time playing?" Dad asked and Alexa nodded.

"Yes, since you want to play it. So I gave it a try. "

"You know how to play it but haven't played it yet."

"Nope." She kept looking at the board.

"How did you? Ahm... you know? " Dad struggles to find the right word for his question.

"I just learned it earlier. I searched it on Google so I can play with you. "

"Just earlier?" We are really stunned. I know she is smart, but not this smart.

"Yes." Dad stopped playing.

"What is the matter Oliver?" Mom asked because we are confused.

"I lost." He declared.

"I win?" Dad nodded, "So I'm supposed to say checkmate?"

"You are not aware?" Mom asked and she nodded " Yes Dear, you already won. Its actually his first time to lose"

"Oh! I'm sorry Dad, I didn't mean to do that." She bowed. Actually, she is so cute while she looks guilty.

"Why are you apologizing? Actually, I'm happy because I found a rival. Thank you for playing with me, Alexa." Dad said sincerely.

"Anytime Dad, just ask me. I will play with you." She smiles and we giggle. She is so cute that I want to put her in my pocket. "Oh! It is already late. I have to go home."

"Dear, you can stay a night here." Mom offered.

"Can I?"

"Yes, of course, you are welcome to stay here whenever you want."

"Okay, thank you for letting me stay," She bowed.

"Stop being formal, Alexa; we are already a family here." Dad said, and Lexa smiled.

"Yeah, you are right. So where am I supposed to sleep? " She asked

"You can choose which room you like."

"Can I sleep in the same room as Avery?" Oh, jisoos!! Does she want to sleep with me?!?!?! I could die right now. Just kidding. I still need to marry her.

"Oh yeah, sure, go ahead. Goodnight everyone, sweet dreams." Mom hugged her, even my Dad hugged her.

"Let's go to your room, Avery" She said while smiling at me, and I just nodded because I was still shocked because she wanted to sleep with me like wtf!!!.

We arrived at my room's door and I opened it. She is roaming in my room and I just keep staring at her.

"Your room is dark and gloomy," She stated.

"You don't like it?" I asked her and she shook her head.

"It's fine, but it's too dark and gloomy." She looked at me and sat beside me on the bed, "It's not so you."

"What do you mean?"

"I don't see you as dark and gloomy." She looked at me and said "I see you as you. I actually really like it when you gummy smile. It makes me happy, and if you are showing your gummy smile, I know you are happy. So, I see you as the person that can make me fall in love."

"You really want to fall for me?" She nodded.

"Yes, because I want to know what it feels like to be in love and what it feels like to fall for you." She said it sincerely and I blushed. "Your face is red. Is there something wrong?"

She is really clueless.

"No, you just made me blush."

"Blush? It means being red suddenly? " She asked me curiously and I nodded.

"It's like that. You will blush when someone makes your heartbeats faster. " She nodded in understanding and I couldn't help but stare at her.

"Let's get to know each other," she declared, and I agreed. "Let's introduce ourselves properly since our first interaction is not that good and not that bad."

"Okay! I go ahead first. My name is Avery Jane Halston, daughter of Oliver Halston and Elizabeth Turner-Halston. I'm already 24 years old. I'm working as a CEO at Halston Corp. I'm living at my penthouse because I prefer to be alone but I make you an exception. That's it" I smiled at her.

"My name is Alexandra Wreyne Smith, an orphan. I am 19 years old and still a student. I took medicine as a course and am already a 4th-year college student. I live in a one-bedroom apartment. You can ask me something if you want to know more about me," I nodded.

"Can I visit you at your apartment?" I asked shyly.

"Of course anytime," She smiled. "Are you fine with the age gap?"

"Actually, I don't care about our gap. I love you for who you are fully as a person. " I said proudly.

She patted my head, "You are so cute, you really look like a kitten." She patted my head, "You probably like younger women than your same age," She joked, and she giggled.

"Maybe" I made her laugh. It felt good to hear her laugh.

"I think we should prepare to sleep." She stood up "Can I take a shower? Borrow some clothes? Ask for a new toothbrush? "

"Of course you can. I can lend you my clothes, and just open the drawer at the corner, you'll find a new toothbrush there." She nodded and smiled.

I went to my walk-in closet and found clothes that would fit on her since she is taller than me. I handed the clothes to her and she went to the bathroom.

"It feels good", I muttered, and sighed, "I want to keep her".

Minutes later, she finished taking a shower and came out of the bathroom. I also took a shower and saw her sitting on the bed waiting for me.

"Let me dry your hair, Avery." She got the hairdryer and started drying my hair. "Avery?" I hummed as a response because her hands made me feel good. "Is it fine just to call you Avery?"

"What do you mean?" I asked her and she finished drying my hair.

"You are 5 years older than me, but I'm just calling you by your name."

"It is fine. I don't mind and I don't want you to call me Unnie because I feel that you are just seeing me as a sister and I hate that. I want you to see me as your lover, so you can call me by my name or some endearments. "

"I just stick to your name hehe." She scratched her nape. We slowly got into the bed. We laid beside each other, but there was a long gap. "You can scoot over if you want"

"Can I?" I asked her and she hummed in response. I moved closer to her and I felt our arms brushing. We were both looking at the ceiling.

"Ave?"

"Hmm?"

"Smile for me everyday, every time"

"Sure!" I faced her and she was still looking at the ceiling.

"Stop staring at me and let's sleep because I'm so tired and your bed isn't helping; it's too soft and comfortable," She yawned and closed her eyes, falling asleep.

"Good night, Alexa," I muttered, kissing her on the cheek and hugging her, my head in the crook of her neck. This feels satisfying, I said in my thoughts, and I drifted to sleep.

The morning came and I woke up. I looked at my side and didn't see Alexa.

Is that just a dream?

Where is she?

I immediately do my morning routine and I rush outside of my room and I hear people laughing at the dining hall.

"Oh sweetie, you're up. It looks like you slept well," Dad said.

"Good Morning Jane" Mom greeted me

"Good Morning Avery! Sit here beside me" Alexa greeted me as well, with a smile on her face, and I rushed towards her and hugged her. "What's wrong Avery?"

"I thought it was all just a dream."

"You just thought but it's all real. Here, eat your breakfast first before going to work, and I borrowed some of your clothes since I don't have one. "

"It's fine, what's mine is also yours."

"It looks like you two have gotten much closer." Dad said

"I'm happy for both of you," Mom said when someone suddenly shouted.

"ALEXA!!! Where have you gone?!?!"I TOLD YOU AUNTIE, YOU CAN'T HAVE MY POOPOO!!!" Chelsea shouted and walked towards the dining hall, where she saw us. "Alexa! Are you ok? Did they hurt you?" Alexa's body was examined and she glared at us. "I told you Auntie that you couldn't get her or kidnap her!!".

"Kidnapped? Who? " Alexa asked and Chel looked at her.

"You" Alexa tilts her head because she is confused.

"No one kidnapped me. No one even hurt me."

"Really?!? Then why are you here? Did they force you? Tell me I'm going to let you out of here, even though they are my relatives. "

"Blair unnie, stop overreacting. You are being rude to Mom and Dad. No one forced me to come here because I was willing to. " Alexa explained and sighed.

"Oh, I'm sorry, but why are you here?"

"They talked to me. They wanted me to marry their daughter." Alexa was cut off.

"Marry what?!?" Chel shouted in shock, "No, I disagree. I'm not going to let you marry this demon here. She is a cold-hearted b***h, a spoiled brat, and a psycho. Let's go Alexa, because you and her will never be together. "

"Did you just humiliate me?" I asked Chel Unnie.

"Yes, because that is your attitude and my puppy here is innocent, smart, and kind. The two of you have the opposite attitude. I'm not going to let you marry my Poopoo, even if we fight here or even if we kill each other here. "

"Okay, Blair unnie, that's enough. Could you please read our explanation? Calm yourself down first, we need to talk properly. " Alexa said seriously,

"Fine," Chel sighed, defeated.

We finished eating breakfast, but throughout the whole breakfast, Chel unnie was glaring at me. This chicken, if Alexa is not here, I am sure I have already killed her. We went to the living room to explain the situation. Chel unnie grabbed Alexa by her side, far away from me.

"Okay, explain. Just make sure it's a good reason." Chel demands

"Mom and Dad talked to me at the university. They want me to marry their daughter, Avery. I initially refused, telling them that I was still young, still studying, still had many things I wanted to explore and experience, and still had dreams to achieve, but they persisted, even kneeling to me, which I stopped them from doing. They lowered their pride just to make Avery happy. You know that I haven't gotten attracted to anyone yet, right? " She asked Chel Unnie.

"Yes I know"

"Dad said it's because I'm focusing too much on myself. He said that I should try to look at the others, and he said that I should try to look at Avery, and I might get attracted to her. So, I made a deal. I'm going to marry Avery after I graduate and have a stable job. While we are not married, Avery will try to make me fall in love and I will try to fall in love with her. I made this decision by myself. No one forced me. I want to feel and experience falling in love with someone or with Avery. Therefore, please accept my decision. I know you are just being protective of me and I'm serious about this. " Alexa hugged Chelsea, and Chelsea heaved a sigh.

"Are you aware that she is a daughter of Hades?" Chel asked Alexa.

"Yes, 101% I am aware, you know, that opposites attract, and Avery is kind to me. "

"She is kind to you?!?!?" Chel raised her voice.

"Yes, she is. She even listens and follows me. "

"She even thanked us and hugged us because Alexa said so." Dad said.

"She even smiled at Alexa," Mom added.

"Thank you Blair unnieeee!!!" Alexa hugged her and peppered her face with kisses.

"Okay, that's enough. Alexa, stop hugging and kissing her." I glared at Chelsea.

"Tsk, Remember this Avery, if you hurt her, you will never see her again, even if you beg me. "

"Whatever, Alexa, come here and sit beside me." She sat beside me and I hugged her right arm.

"Avery, you should thank Blair unnie because she agreed." Alexa said to me, and I looked at her and shook my head. "Did you know that she is now my guardian since I am an orphan?"

"Fine," I whined. "Thank you for agreeing." Chel laughed.

"You really got it bad. Hahahahaa Lucifer is now thanking me," She mocked me.

"Oh! I'm already late. I have to go now," Alexa grabbed her bag.

"I will drive you to your school." I offered.

"Nah, I prefer riding an Uber because if you drop me off at school it will attract the attention of the students," She reasoned.

"Let them see us."

"Nope, I hate attention and students saw me with the owner of the school, so they might have bombed me with questions. You are also going to be late, so you should also get to your company. "

"Fine," I whined, and I hugged her. "Be careful on your way to school." She patted my head.

"Yeah you too, don't skip a meal. I have to go now. Goodbye, Mom and Dad, Blair unnie and Avery. BYE!!!" She ran immediately.

I'm going to miss her, and she is now mine.
